Now that is a NICE BUCK!! Did you take him with the Bow or Gun? Was it during the Rutt?

Thanks! I took him with my 20 ga on Nov 16th... (2nd day opener gun season) He was in full rut chasing a doe when I saw him.
It was around 11:30 am (funny how I remember ALL the details, weather etc that day). He was a 15 pt, but broke one of the 3 brow tines, so he just has double brow tines on both sides. We've taken a few other nice bucks like him, off the farm, one was a 17 pt with drop tines. Unfortunatly, everyone and his neighbor hunts in the area now.. so we're lucky to even see a buck anymore.

Yeah those ruttin boys make our life easier for a good chance!! Glad you got em but, sad to hear that everyone is hunting your spot!! That sorta thing happens to me all the time and I hate it!!

Well, our bow season opened today.....I bought a bow last year...practiced a lot....not sure I'll do any good this year, but gonna try it out. Heading to the camp in a few hours....wish me luck girls!!!

Another female bowhunter here!!! I hunt with a Diamond by Bowtech with a 50lb draw. Hubby bought it for me last year.. I love it, love it , looove it!!! I had always had used bows before, so this new one is like daylight compared to dark. So much faster, quieter and smoother shooting than any other ones I've had before.
We bow hunt in Southern Illinois every year.. But I opted out of hunting opening weekend this time. Just wasn't in the mood. It's been too hot here, and Illinois has some bugs this time of year that are just awful.. They imbed in your socks and around your waistband and places bugs just shouldn't ever be!! Much less biting you there. And itches something pathetic... LOL So this is the first time I have ever not been in the truck when it left to go hunting. But we are planning to go again in November right before their first gun season, to hopefully catch the beginning of the rut. And I will be going then!!! I had one sure nuff freak nasty come under my stand last year that looked like Bullwinkle.. He was huge and his rack was the most delicious shade of chocolate with amazing mass. He was less than 30 yards from me, probably at 15 - 20 yards.. But I couldn't get a clean shot for love nor money.. And I wont take the shot if I don't think I can get good placement.. I would much rather let it walk, than make anything other than a clean kill shot.. A deer that big deserves more than just a bad wound. A week later, someone else got him.. It's ok though, it tickled the crap out of me just to say that I saw him up close and personal.. He was the biggest buck I have ever seen while on stand.. I can only hope to see something atleast as half as nice as he was come November. Half as nice would still be a wall hanger!! But in the meantime, Good luck everybody!!!!

Wow so many hunting buddies I have on here. Never figured lol. Ms.Fuzzybutts those bugs you refer to are CHIGGERS! The scurge of the forest. I hate them too lol.

This was my morning:

I managed to get up at 3am, showered and out the door by 3:30.

I forgot my rangefinder.
The batteries were dead on my gps.
I put my climber on a crooked tree. Once in the tree I took an arrow out of my quiver, put the arrow on the string and then dropped the quiver on the ground. Oops.

Three deer show up before light and eat acorns in front of me. Just as it gets to be shooting light a jogger came down a nearby trail and ran them off.

Later at 7:30 this doe came by.
