congratulations to everyone who harvested!

I my deer seasn was a bust. Didn't see anything that I could shoot. (only a fawn in range) I'm hoping to go out during black powder and we have a late doe season.

Im not FROM Jersey and Im not sure on THEIR laws. Even though I looked at their fish ang game website. The print was too small for me to make out. It aint that big a deal just wanted to know easily. Congrats on the monster Kansas whitetail.

Found it for you, NO HARLEQUINS

Thanks a bunch Moe. Do you happen to also know if you can take harlequin in any of the states on the east coast? The main reason I ask this is because this a trophy duck I would love to hunt one day. I know you can on the west coast. When I go to do it I just didnt want to go out that far away.

Well, I'm not doing so well. I haven't even had anything to shoot at.

Checoukan (my little sister) bagged a beautiful tall tined buck with her crossbow.

(Picture is posted a ways back.)

My older sister bagged a beautiful 9 point with massive beams and lots of character to his twisted, knotted tines.

My brother in law (Checoukan's hubby) bagged a MASSIVE buck that green scored 193 4/8.

Now I just heard from my nephew that he bagged a really nice, wide mulie. It looked like it was about 34-36 inches wide.

And I haven't even had a shot!

I got a good story,

We hadn't seen to many deer this year due to the corn on other fields still up and bunch of trees falling down in our woods. With all the fallen trees the deer are not using their normal travel routes.

So we moved our tent blind to where we thought the deer were moving and we were right, that evening I had 7 does walk by me at 50 yards but behind thick cover.

Next time out I cut come nice shooting lanes and the does came out in the same spot right in my shooting lane. I get her lined up in my scope with my muzzle loader and "pop" cap goes off but the powder does not ignite. MISFIRE! All the does are now looking at me.

they trot off and as they do I notice a big buck come charging across the field to chase the does. Just salt in the wound at that point.

This muzzleloader was given to me by my neighbor, so I'm not too familar with it. It was in rough shape before I cleaned it up. It appears I need to ditch the #11 caps and upgrade to a 209 primer.

It was still fun to be out.

I used to hunt with an old caplock. A trick is to sift some fine powder out of the batch through a fine screen. You're looking for the dust at the bottom of the can. Remove your nipple and pre-prime some of that dust under the nipple after you've loaded your main charge. A simpler solution is to upgrade to 209 as you said. They're much more surefire. I've got a plain-jane CVA 209 gun I'd sell cheap if you're interested. Shoots good, got it back when MN had a multi-season license so you could hunt archery, firearms and BP on the same tag.
