They are safe in the coop. If water gets high enough I will cram them in a dog cage and take them on the boat with us. We are just sitting right twiddling our thumbs. Thank got we have power. Kids are watching movies so they are staying busy. What I am missing most is watching the darn news. We have plenty of food so that will not be a problem. They have already closed schools for the whole week. I'm rambling. Tired and have a headache.

MIL gets special quick prayer, as we are all still praying for rain to slack for all of SE Texas. Glad you are still okay and house is in good shape so far, keep us up dated when you can, know you have your hands full[/Q
I don't want to get fired

Right now there really is no where to go. That is a big problem. They are taking people from my neighborhood to the second floor of the high school that is literally across the street from me. We will go there if water gets inside. But not until then
Stay out of shelters unless you have no choice. If you are safe stay put. Shelters can be a nightmare, over crowded with people who will start getting cabin fever shortly. Just the opinion of one who had to watch it 12 years ago.

I hated snakes while living near Dallas
We are watching out back...the military trucks keep dropping off loads of people . If needed we can flag them done within a minute.

Hurticane and flooding tips : Zip bags, space bags, coolers, plastic and glass screw top jars, garbage bags, aluminum foil, Saran wrap can all be used for keeping documents, electronics, photos, keepsakes dry. Even if you must leave them behind in a closet that gets flooded they have a better chance of surviving. Remember that things can float away through busted windows and doors to be lost, but inside a stout interior closet they are less likely to be affected in the case of exterior walls or windows/doors being compromised.

Just heard another 20 inches of rain is expected to fall Houston area through Friday. Historic floods, never before seen are expected. Houston officials are asking citizens with high water vehicles and boats to call in to coordinate rescue efforts with the Fire Marshall. Area high rise apartments are welcoming random people into their homes from the flood waters. The cars in those underground and lower level parking areas are flooded through multiple levels. And it's still raining.

Harvey's clouds spread over 700 miles, so its not just Houston's problem. Tens of millions of Gulf area residents will be affected. Livestock losses alone will be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Financial losses will be in the many billions of dollars.
