In the city of Ybor (we called it hoarbor... cause well... straight up pimps is zuitsuits and the walkers) right by tampa... they have wild chickens all over the place. city rules you are not allowed to mess with the chickens. And if a dumb tourist does locals are quick to let them know. There are some beautiful birds there and you always would see a mama with babies, chickens roostin in trees, walkin across the road you name it. But none ever got near the humans. Cannot imagine someone tryin catch those birds.
Sounds beautiful. May have to put that on my would love to see someday list.

Pretty much on par with the "professional" surfer who died trying to surf Irma in Barbados, eh?
It is stupid. Governor Scott was on the TV yesterday and today literally spelling it out for people who chose not to evacuate. "Once the storm arrives, we cannot save you." "You will possibly die". Can't be more plain than that!

Also feral Hemmingway Cats, (they all have an extra toe). hope all animals in Irma's path fair out well.
I'm sure those were evacuated. The polydactal cats are a part of that particular visitors site, so they would have been crated up and trucked out long ago. I was there back in 2010, and they had a storage area full of cat carriers for just such an emergency :).

Have they asked people who are staying to write their SSN on their arms with sharpies? Not a joke!

I see you have NW florida as where you are. Are you and yours going to be okay?

I doubt ferals... I bet they're not technically pets either... I bet every one of them has sharpened spurs...
That would explain why they were so worried about evacuating roosters...

most fighting roosters also have their wattles and combs cut off, those look like ferals or a hoax image

So fast, I couldn't get back inside to get our cat or another ferret in my bedroom. Lost them. But all humans in the house that morning (12 of us) got out safely. Feb 8 2007 - Snow, ice, had been 10 degrees or lower for days.
:hugs glad you were all able to get out, sorry to hear about those lost

I heard that one of the cruise ships was going to pack up all the employees and head out to sea also. Can they get far enough away... fast enough?
Yep!! very much so!

Yes, I think so. We live about 12 miles north of Pensacola and 6 miles east of the Alabama state line. If the hurricane keeps to the peninsula of Florida, then we will probably get a few breezes and some rain. But! If it goes into the Gulf, that's a whole different story. That means a more powerful storm making a northern landfall and could spell out trouble.

I work at a federal prison and the place is set up for riding out a hurricane if it is cat 2 or less. If more, then it will be evacuated. The thinking is that it's a good practice run in preparing for a major hurricane if we don't need it, but if we do, then it's already taken care of! Don't like the hurricane shutters on my office window though, :).
