Pretty much on par with the "professional" surfer who died trying to surf Irma in Barbados, eh?

That's normal. Surfers do it all of the time. That guy was in a spot that is difficult to navigate due to reefs and rocks even if you know what you're doing. Very dangerous spot. Had nothing to do with the hurricane. He was world class and probably surfed much bigger waves.

Thanks, he's out of surgery and hopefully recovers well. Just got home since they'll keep him for a day or two to keep him on fluids and check his vitals and keep his incision clean and him pumped full of IV drugs. He's about 10 years old so was hoping all would go well but he has a strong heart and lungs and is stubborn. Just kind of hard when faced with putting a dollar sign on a pet's life at midnight then rushing to the 24 hr vet hoping he's not already too far gone. Just now home at 3:40am and our other dog is panicked some.

But, at least here in our part of Oregon we got some rain! Much needed... just like sleep. And maybe a rich sugar daddy for the vet bills.

I have friends in Florida and SC so hope all goes as well as it can..

Just too much stress lately!
I understand, have only seen a wild fire once, and it scared the sh*t out of me, been through lots of hurricanes, but the wild fire was something else! So glad you got some rain hope and pray that helps, happy to hear dog is doing well. Sounds like you need to find some time for yourself. If it was me, I would buy a lotto ticket (hope for anykind of slightly large win), fix a drink of your choice, ( can be hard stuff or not, what ever does it for you, it IS 5 o'clock somewhere and who cares if it's not, it's Friday) and take a warm bath with epsom salts. Just know we are all here for you, people do care. let us know how you are doing, but take some time for yourself to rest.

True Dat...same goes for Tornadoes and Earthquakes.
Had a tornado touch down 5 miles NW of me last summer and move due north.
Ya never know when your number might be called.
"True Dat"? aart are you from New Orleans? That's what I love so much about this site, most people seem really kind and caring, with a great sense of humor. Always brightens my day to read posts on this site! Most seem to live a simple, real life. so hard to find these days. Yes aart we never know, but it's nice to know that when the end comes, I can look back on my life with pride!

'Natural Selection'...probably a good thing.

'Saving' them questionable IMO.
But wrapping them like that, smh, tho I'm sure it is an easy and effective way to restrain them for transport, I would be seriously concerned about them overheating and being able to breathe if tape is too tight for rib expansion...not to mention the poop!
Especially for a God only knows how long drive in bumper to bumper traffic, been there before, got so bored I timed speed between mile markers and we were moving at 1 and 1/2 mph. Too slow for ac or car may over heat and hot as hell, also start to worry about enough fuel to get where there may be an open gas station that MAY still have fuel.

I could see getting out of dodge with like a catamaran yacht and sailing to somewhere not affected before it's close. Also to save your multi million dollar yacht... but that's a problem I'll never have.
Not that I will ever have a multi million dollar anything, but the crew is stuck having to deal with that expensive bad boy. I can promise you the owner, got that hell of of Dodge a while back, with orders for the crew to take care of the "boat".

Wonders if these are pets or a bunch of ferals...look to all be males, maybe(big combs).

In the city of Ybor (we called it hoarbor... cause well... straight up pimps is zuitsuits and the walkers) right by tampa... they have wild chickens all over the place. city rules you are not allowed to mess with the chickens. And if a dumb tourist does locals are quick to let them know. There are some beautiful birds there and you always would see a mama with babies, chickens roostin in trees, walkin across the road you name it. But none ever got near the humans. Cannot imagine someone tryin catch those birds.
