I, for one, would rather watch and wait then to ignore and get lamblasted from a surprise hurricane or any severe weather system such as blizzards or tornadoes.@Frazzemrat1

It appears it will just graze Delmarva....but yeah....NJ and New England may get it worse.
Right now, our weather people are not perfect (and yes, I wish they were!), nor are they weather mind readers. When they create these models, they can only go by the data available at the time used, the use of historical data, and predictability algorithms.
However, models are just that - models that show a wide range of "what if's". They are not set in stone and unforeseen circumstances and/or changing weather patterns dictates what the storm ends up doing.
Saying it "probably won't" go a certain way or it will act in a certain manner, may and has led people to take down their guard.
