Saying it "probably won't" go a certain way or it will act in a certain manner, may and has led people to take down their guard.

Yes, but going "EEK! SHRIEK! HEAD FOR THE HILLS, WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE! More at 11" is just a ploy to get ratings, and sooner or later, they become like the boy that cried wolf - nobody believes them. Or worse yet, the people who actually called it right are blamed for making a mistake, and nobody believes them. Saying "keep an eye on this one, this is what we think it's going to do, but it may be a near thing" is a far cry from saying "it's headed your way, folks." The former is what is in bulletins the National Hurricane Center is putting out, but it doesn't make for real attention-grabbing sound bites, does it?

Incidentally, they still think the center will stay well offshore. However, Jose is expected to gain a little in strength and a good bit in width, so there may be tropical storm warnings posted for coastal North Carolina by sometime tomorrow. That does not mean they think it will make landfall, just that it could get pretty windy, and rainy, with rough surf conditions, as Jose passes by.

I was thinking the same thing last night! This is the first thread where everyone just gets along despite differences in location/backgrounds/etc. I stopped posting on other threads because I felt my comments/experiences were always under attack.
Well looks like we are all going to have to keep this thread going ...forever now!

I love it too!
:yesss:

has anyone posted to a moderator when they feel "picked on " or "criticized" never had that on any thread I am so sorry anyone has had this is a great site full of great people there is no right or wrong with 99.9 people here we want to help be there for each other learn new ourselves or be reminded of forgotten ways.... :hugs
Picked on is one thing...reportable ..but when one needs to remember that we are a million different people with a million and five different opinions.
Not everyone is going to have the same opinion and sometimes when someone doesn't agree with you it may "hurt" your feelings even though that weren't trying to hurt your feelings to begin with.
( I suck at trying to explain)

ALWAYS report someone if it makes you "feel bad"..the mods will remove the post if it is flat out rude or ugly.

I have not, probably should have but I just ignore the users. You can usually tell they are being a******* to all on the thread and then the thread stops. I did notice one user may have already been kicked off - if that happens. There are topics that you learn over time to avoid discussing if you have thin skin...like no crow collars
Yep.. I agree..
I can argue with people til I am blue in the face about a certain topic..no crow collars ..but we all have our "own topic"...you know?...But I have learned to just hit the next button..and ignore.

yes, just be prepared in case, not OMG the New England states are going to be gone, better safe and prepared than sorry with your pants down. Just the opinion of one who lives on the Gulf Coast.

I'll agree. Group hug time!

Adversarial postings discourage my participation. If I am factually wrong, you can point it out without vulgarities. If it is your opinion, well...

What an exciting start to hurricane season! The Islands, Texas and Florida are in first place with Mexico following. Can we cancel the rest of the season due to lack of interest? Maybe not lack of interest. Um, because no one wants to play?
I'm done playing..for sure.
I second this motion!
