Can you please just send a few inches, maybe even a foot of rain out west? We've got so much forest fire smoke it hurts the lungs and everything is kindling dry... Weird when Oregon/Washington are dry and hot and Texas is getting too much rain.

Come bring the chickens to my 33 acres at the top of a hill... no worry about flooding here, just heat.

Hope them opening up floodgates doesn't unleash the water on you @KikisGirls

We are forcast to get rain training over the city tonight for at least 12 hrs. I know Texas is still in really bad shape and in for more, before it's over. Not trying to compare, but I am really starting to worry as we are still having major pump problems. That hour of rain we got earlier, produced street flooding in the western side of our neighborhood. Can't imagine what 12 hours will bring. Of course we are being told that we are at greater than 90% of pumping capacity. And everyone here knows we are being lied to again. All I can say is Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help Southeastern Texas and Southern Louisiana, as well as, any others who may be affected by Harvey.
Is there another adult who can watch the kids while you plug in some earphones(maybe listen to chicken sounds) and get some rest? Would be good for you to detach for just an hour or so.
Oh, aart, what a great idea. One all of us should consider. Thank you

PolarBerry, wish I could send at least some your way! Would be a win-win situation.

I wish so too! 2 neighbors have had barn fires in the last month that required 30-40 firefighters to extinguish... one was less than a mile from the house and I was just watching the black smoke pouring up.

Really hope all of you who sheltered in place have tons of spare food and clean drinking water. My husband says he will allow me more poultry because in times of emergencies they can become a backup food source. Other than the eggs, obviously, as a last resort.

So sorry, fire can be as bad as water, sparing nothing and leaving you in shock and disbelief. Good luck, will add you to the ever growing prayer list.

Kiki, I'm sooooo tired of rain--but I would gladly take yours if I could. Water has to rise 650 feet to get to my house or over 1100 feet to cross my mountain. If you get out you're welcome here in middle Tennessee. It might be tight but we can make it work.
