I've used stick heaters and stock tank heaters, they both work well for the bucket--but not the hose and bell. It wasn't too bad for me, as soon as the sun came out the hose and bell would thaw fairly quickly and warm water running into the bell, would melt the ice there. My simple solution is to not raise CX that late in the year anymore. Processing 75 birds in 40 degree weather is absolutely no fun at all.

sorry I have 6 active buckets 3 in the main coop, 1 in cockerel land and 2 in the new coop but all have horizontal nipples will never go another way buy them online amazon like 20 at a time cheap plain old tank heaters from pet store keep it flowing in the winter if the water moved the nipples do not freeze

Thank you everyone, for asking about us, all went well last night, we all stayed up late for nothing. So slept in this morning and am finally getting to checking in here. Sorry it took so long to get back to y'all. Archbishop said we did't need to go to Mass today so we stayed in bed! LOL Bathroom or restroom depends on what you are doing in there!!! We still use the hose in the coop method, with another container in the yard near the house eaves that fills when it rains (has to be filled when it doesn't, but also next to the hose bib). Sounds like everyone is in good spirits today, glad I have power and can continue to follow all of this.
