The real problem is going to be all the water that get's dropped up north. I'm hoping the thing is still traveling south east. If we're lucky it might go back to sea.

Even if not under a boil advisory, anything going inside your body or your critters should be boiled right now if getting it from the tap. That amount of rain will cause ground instability in the pipes and likely already has breaks they aren't aware of yet. That's what happened to us, they gave us a boil water advisory days post-rain saying we should have been boiling all along. Suuuper helpful.

Just as an fyi, you can also fill your tub and other containers--but as @PolarBerry says I'd boil or filter if you have a berkey.

Kikis, can I suggest that you let "whomever" know about your situation? It might be that they'll be rescuing near you and it would make sense to combine another rescue with a supply drop to your place, rather than asking "formally" when you really need it. Just let them know that you don't need a special run, but if they are in your area, to include you then?

Glad to hear you are still (relatively) ok. Having decent water supplies is your main concern and you've got that covered.

Check out the internet for things that you may not automatically think of in emergency-- you may have ice cubes in the 'fridge that you can melt for drinking water. They say that toilet tank (not bowl) water is relatively safe to drink. Wishing you all well, and the aftermath may be as bad as the storm as everyone tries to get back to normal and the rivers crest.

If you have been flushing the toilet, don't use the water in the toilet tank. Same water as what is in the faucets.

Saw on the weather a few minutes ago that you will have some rain occasionally tonight and a pretty good shower later tonight. Then it should start clearing out. The storm is heading north east up toward Kentucky.

Britta and fridge/house filters don't filter out flood contaminants and after all this is done they should all be replaced as an FYI. Not like you need more to think of!

Roger, there are only a couple filter systems out there that will. however if you do have a filter system of some sort not connected to the main, ie britta its a good idea to run the boiled water through it.
