That's crazy & sad, shoot I've seen murders get off easier than 8 years. Praying that this doesn't happen to anyone.
After Katrina my Adult son was arrestedfor breaking into the trailer we were living in on our lot (forgot his keys and was locked out) NOPD appologized for arresting him but said they had no choice as it was a FEMA trailer and since the man who checked on them had complained and it was FEDERAL PROPERTY they had no choice. It got worked out , but was stressful

Great point about saw dust though. Wonder if I can shoot it into a bucket? May not be worth the effort. Operating power tools while standing in mud. Hmmm - what could go wrong?
Fresh sawdust will be 'wet', even if not touched by rain or flood waters. If gas powered chainsaw you're good to go....electric, best not. Be careful out there!

Life after Harvey! I know that there must be lots of BYC members who have been effected by this horrible event. Here in the Austin area, we had to deal with lots of wind and only about 7" of rain. We did have to reinforce our half-hoop coop by adding some internal support posts to help hold down the hoop roof from taking off during the high winds. The rain came in the bottom edge of the East side and some on the N and S ends, as they won't be covered until Winter. Finally today I was able to add a layer of new pine shavings, as I am using the DLM for this 273 square foot coop (4 bags from TSC). The girls helped me move it around. They were so glad to be out after 4 days of being cooped up in the coop! I know we were very lucky and I pray for our community who have lost their flocks and coops. I have included some pics of the new layer of shavings!

That's too bad, guess after I think about it I should probably have phrased my post better. I can completely understand if you are in dire straights after a disaster. If my family needed food to survive I would probably do the same. It's the looting of items like TV & electronics & stuff like that idividuals are going to try to sell that is so wrong. I have never been through a disaster personally so I guess I don't know how I would act. I am a good person, with good morals, but you never know what you will do to survive.

So glad you at least got TP, lots of food is going to be coming your way. Do you have access to TV or Radio?
No TV we do have a "regular" radio but I haven't touched it yet. I guess now would be a good time to dust it off. I'm one of those that sleep with the TV on kind of people so I've been keeping a DVD playing for sound non stop. I'll know the words down pat pretty soon to Remember the Titans movie soon enough

While I am sorry for the people that are having trouble I truly don't understand the total lack of planning some of these people live in. Especially, if you have children. You can buy those nasty meals in supplies of four days for $10 sometimes and I ship it to you throw it in a bag and you know you put a few things in there and even if you have to leave you can carry it. I don't live in a hurricane Zone but I live in Tornado Alley in fact, Joplin Missouri if that Rings any bells.. A little preparation and a little bit of cost and some of these people wouldn't be quite so stressed out.
