There is a link on another thread Hurricane Preparation for info in the Caribbean. This is the quote.

One of the best places to get up-to-date information on hurricanes in the Caribbean is the "Caribbean Hurricane Network". it is run by Gert and has a whole network of correspondents from the different Islands who send in updates. there are links to find the least overloaded servers where you can Yelp for help. it's just a whole network of help and advice and weather information. just excellent! www.stormCARIB.com

lol i dont plan to flush even if its brown. at least not until its literally to where you cant use it.
Don't wait too long or it may plug the toilet or pipes and then be totally useless. Even with yellow(and girls) you gotta watch the amount of paper in there.

We always fill out tub to flush the toilet with. Even if you still have flowing water, the pumping stations run with electricity, so it will be sluggish and you may need to assist with extra water from the tub.

I live just north of Pensacola and the store shelves are already bare - hopefully, they'll restock soon just in case!

Canned fruit = Hydration and calories with good vitamins. Canned meats/fish, cooking oil, Pasta, rice, instant potatoes, canned milk, coconut milk, canned beans, canned chili, canned stew and soup. You can eat the canned goods straight from the can if you have to. Minimal cooking and water needed. Keep flour, salt and sugar in screw top jars. Tortillas from a mix can cook on the grill and be wrapped around anything. Disposable plates, cups, cutlery and paper towels save wash water.

all good ideas. i plan to leave soon for the store. i know it is late but the walmart is open 24/7 here so i am hoping there is something left that i could buy otherwise i gotta wait till morning and try out other stores plus i need to buy dog food and things for the chickens. i honestly had no time today up until now.

also i know i will get flooded. i live towards the bottom of a hill which is a mountain and the water goes into this stream which is literally 10 feet away from house and it turns into a mini river during rainstorms. it goes all along my land that i have and today while i was preparing some parts of it where my land is kind of low near it, the water already looked like it was high. a couple more feet and it probably will over flow at least in that one area. i am just hoping that the area that is right next to my house does not flood my downstairs.:fl

Weather reports we are getting predict that the left side of the eye will graze the Islands....this means the most powerful side of the storm will be furthest from the NE side of PR out over the ocean. Predictions also indicate the storm may strengthen a little more in the next hours as it approaches the Virgin Islands, should be north of PR and graze Cuba.
We are lifting prayers for those in Irma's path.
