Thinking good thoughts for @theuglyduckling ...hoping for her safety. Things don't sound good for PR. Our nephew has been deployed. Mission undisclosed but we think it may be to help patrol and move supplies.

Fowl Pox:.....
Best thing to do is get rid of the mosquitos.
It is almost impossible to do so.
We use those mosquito dunks in all water tanks and duck pools. Oxine in the chicken water seems to keep the larvae from growing. I also spray permethrin barn spray on the walls and roosting areas in the coops to keep flies and mosquitoes at bay.

Fed the bottle calf today by moving her close to the graft mom while they were eating cubes...first time out in the open....and mom grudgingly let her nurse....SUCCESS! one more task done before surgery.
Fed all the chickens and cleaned the duck pools out and refilled them. Had to doctor one young keeper cockerel....he was a little hunkered down....gave him antibiotics/gallimycin for possible respiratory cold.

Worn out from 4 days of butchering and clearing the garden....so instead of going back out, I made an apple raisen pie...smells good in the kitchen.
Going to rest today and hit it hard Sunday and Monday. Surgery is Tuesday afternoon.

No, I'm old, and tired, and don't do anything.
Also, I've got some horrible disease at the moment, coughing like Camille (no, it's not TB, just a bug)

you take care my new Dr office called me said my thyroid level is great stay on current dosage.... but my vitamin D level is near very low he want to me take 4000 mg daily starting right away

@RUNuts what do you think? Hardwood something in the medium range? Kind of thinking an Oak.:pop
maple, with the chance of some curly :drool

I like cheap.
I prefer free wood but I will actually spend some money on it.
Home Depot route sounds good to practice.

Here's my last major woodworking project. Took me three years working on weekends.

Funny story... After ten years of not being able to agree on a retirement location, DW and I began this adventure. Just the two of us. 90% done, we found our dream location. It was really hard to finish--but the house listed for three days until we had a solid offer. DW wants to know when I'm going to do the kitchen in the new house. ARG:he

Edited to add: for you bakers out there, yes those are walnut pie rings inlaid into the white maple butcher block counter top.
gorgeous!! when did you want to come to NH???

What's amazing is I've found pallets made out of furniture grade hardwood. All you need is the tools to reclaim it.:yesss:
:thumbsup yes!!!!!

Totally off topic, I know.

I got a leghorn with red everywhere and 2 fingers fit between the butt bones. At what age do the over achievers start laying treasure (rent)? I'm not saying the age because I don't want to prejudice your answer. This is a leghorn and I'm guessing different from the heritage BR that aren't even thinking of turning red.

If it was a single bird, I'd think it was a fluke. It isn't. Got 3 of them like this.
16-20 weeks

I just had a  moment....bears EAT bees?! What!!! Then I remembered my 1970's cartoons. :lau And obviously bees are not the same as vicious ground hornets.
We don't have bears in DE (that I'm aware of) and I only know two bee keepers. So, I'm fascinated by all the hive keeping posts but horrified you would have to worry about a bear!
yes, very much so and a multitude of other things, including chickens and ducks

They eat honey and bee grubs that's for sure lol! Also tear your whole setup apart and make the surrounding area stink like bear. I'm thinking about redoing the whole thing with a log hive.
get one of these :drool
they actually dont look too badly price either, in comparison to other hives and the work needed

Royal Caribbean is providing free passage to evacuees from PR and the US Virgin Islands.:)

yep and they are bringing supplies in when they grab people

Agree. Most scary thought... 110 transformers have a 9 month backlog from china.
thats because NH just had a record breaking winter storm that claimed hundreds of them

Educating the kids. They all liked hot dogs. I ask them what they put in a "hot dog". None knew, so I would enlighten them.
Everything but the squeal! Everything from pig lips to ***holes and some of everything in between.

Put them off hot dogs and baloney for a while.
i love hot dogs

I can't wait until I have beef and pork growing here.... Soo much to learn!

Is this chicken pox?

I slept in til 6.

It COULD be the beginning.
It could be a peck mark too.
