The surgery was out patient...but they gave me Sprite and graham crackers.
On Norco and ice and surprisingly pain free. Locked my chickens up without using my right hand. In for the night.

So glad it went well and you are comfortable, still in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us updated on how you are doing.

I have some wood slices left over from a project...
Am thinking of making something like these for the kid's class for Christmas.

I have a few more pieces of good size wood to cut more slices too.

Would it be better to use a marker you think of paint to decorate them?

Glad you chose the wood burner! The markers tend to bleed into the wood...even th permanent Sharpies. Former art teacher.

So one year everyone got Texas handmade things for Christmas..the next year everyone got crosses.

This time I practiced on everyone else's cross first and saved mine for last.

I have no idea what I want to make this year.

Have you seen the gourds that are decorated with wood burning, applied beads and feathers on leather strands....a SW design? I found a book with ideas...I grow bird house gourds. They can be bought in craft stores

Do the wood burning outside with good ventilation. Do you have aloe available?

If you aren't happy with #1, do it again. Good thing about wood, you can always redo, repaint and remodel. Everyone needs chisels. Can you sharpen a knife? Dull cutting tools are dangerous.

Feeling good! My thumb and first two finger have no tingling or burning. The ring finger and pinkie are still numb.

A moment of silence for my turnip patch, the fence fell down and the heathens ate the greens.

This is what I am going for...the reclaimed older look but I like dark.

Reclaimed barn wood can be distressed with heavy chains, a cat of nine tail made with nuts and bolts, and a thick wire hit with a hammer.....sounds kinky but they work.

Think my Norco is keeping me awake.

Here's a trick... Look at the wood, you're looking for character. What you like. May sound gross but wet it, and wipe the water around... That's what a finished product might look like.

Some of the best tables I've seen were made with barn wood. Reclaimed stuff. Find what is pleasing to your eye and go with it.

I love barn wood... After its aged a bit, and its true character comes out? So beautiful!

Just picking, an invest area, is a weather feature that could possibly turn into a tropical storm and/or hurricane. This one is either coming my way this weekend or to my friend in the Florida panhandle. They aren't sure yet. Hope your day/night is going well.

I love barn wood... After its aged a bit, and its true character comes out? So beautiful!

NanaKat has some great ideas to distress wood, that are often used to make new furniture look like antiques by the pros.
