YUK!
My dogs would have to learn how to pee on a pee pad if it got that cold here.
Ain't no way I am going walk in that weather.
You are nuts!

always had to shovel like that in Juneau not here most often now

The Mexican is knocked out...if he was awake he would be turning my heater on right now.
The socks and blanket on the bed are good enough.

I always wear socks to bed this time of year I have a ragtime quilt I made myself

DH has started to read over my shoulder, because I was laughing so much in front of the computer. Now he is LHAO as well! It has become a family activity to read BYC together!

BF does sometimes depends how hard I am laughing

I agree. I lost everything in Hurricane Ivan. I had plenty of scammers waiting around to take my money - what little of it I had. My insurance did not want to pay enough to help me out, so I had to hire a public adjuster. I ended up getting what I needed and was able to rebuild. However, it was a valuable lesson learned. If you compared the Governor of Puerto Rico with the mayor of San Juan, you can see the difference in attitude. That's what I'm referring to. Hurricane Maria is not the first hurricane to hit Puerto Rico. I believe much of the problem is as my students have indicated - years of corruption and pocketing of funds intended to keep the infrastructure in good repair has resulted in the mess you see in Maria's aftermath. Many are innocent of these crimes, but I think those responsible should be tracked down and punished accordingly. People lost their lives in PR due to poor preparation and maintenance of vital services.

I'm not heartless, and I do understand the need for support after an event like this. I've been through it myself. But, I'll be curious to see if the people in charge in the country learn anything from this at all.

they have not in years past why would they now?

Someone gave one to my mom and it is so nice and heavy...perfect for cold weather sleeping!

Ok, two of the weather services say we'll get a mild frost tonight, while two others say low of 35. Just in case I picked all the cherry tomatoes and peppers. I know the kale, broccoli and spinach can handle a mild frost... What about green beans? The beans appeared to play out in July but have come back with a vengeance are are currently loaded. I've never had them this late in the year.

Pretty sure they fall over dead to cold fairly easily. If memory serves they're one of the first things to go yellow and die in fall.
