It's kinda aggravating! I put a pen in the laundry room for the chickens. Going to go outside here in a bit and get my girly's slide inside the breezeway so it doesn't become a missile if the winds get really bad. Grocery delivery coming in three hours. Whew!
Where are you? I spent all yesterday bringing EVERYTHING in. What a job that was. I had 20 bird feeders, plus patio furniture, plus pool stuff, plus tons of potted plants. I don't want to have to put it all back out there next week. I'm in Huntington and the hurricane is supposed to pass just to the west of us giving us the worst winds. I hope it peeters out significantly before it gets here.
Hi. We're in Ridge. And I'm STILL putting stuff away today. Hubby is cutting plywood to cover a bay window. Easier to do it now than when it expoldes later in the driving rain. I hope he is overreacting, but by the way Irene looks, we aren't taking any chances. Where in Huntington, I grew up in Melville?
We have already had 3" of rain here since yesterday, and the storm isn't supposed to hit in full force until later this afternoon. I have had standing water in my yard for at least 4 hours. Wish I had sandbags...
Man, I'm so tired of this storm. Irene is so large she's taking days to get out of here. Yesterday the wind and rain started about noon with a dramatic increase in the wind around 9 pm. This morning around 2 or 3, the wind was so bad it was making the house make noises. We have limbs down in the yard, but nothing huge. We did lose a little Japanese Maple in the storm. It broke off at the ground and is laying over.
Since the storm is so big and is moving slow, when you gets to you it will take a long time to go away. I'll be thinking and praying about you folks to the north.
Ugh. That sounds awful. I am just finishing up preparations-- bringing in firewood for our fireplace, bringing in potted plants, and filling one last tub of water. I still need to figure out how to protect my beehive. ;/
