Hurricane Irene - Watch out East Coast

Hi Stoopid

,

Where are you? I spent all yesterday bringing EVERYTHING in. What a job that was. I had 20 bird feeders, plus patio furniture, plus pool stuff, plus tons of potted plants. I don't want to have to put it all back out there next week. I'm in Huntington and the hurricane is supposed to pass just to the west of us giving us the worst winds. I hope it peeters out significantly before it gets here.

I'm over in the Greenlawn area. We're pretty high above sea level as DH was looking into a windmill and found out we're very elevated, but I still worry about trees falling on the house. We have very big, very old trees all around us. I think I'll ride this out in the basement. Ridge is very rural, so you probably have a lot of trees too? I hope they're not close to your house. Stay safe and I pray for this hurricane to be weak.

I'm in New Jersey. We got a lot of rain so far, not much in the way of wind...yet.

Our coop is very strong and secure, so my folks will be OK. My roo isn't happy about being inside, though. I heard him crowing up until it started to rain.

Oh yeah, we're in the WOODS. When people come over, they all act like it's another planet. Got a 1.75ac parcel that had a summer home on it from 1940's. TWIN outhouse, all the amenities...coal chute, real 2x4's. Anyway, demo'ed that and built a fresh home in the back yard. In the trees. LOTS of big, old trees. UGH. Can't wait till tomorrow. I already brought the special chickens inside, in the spare bathtub. I can only imagine what my sewer line looks like after years of that! And got all the chainsaws running, the generator, ropes to keep trees off the house. I REMEMBER hurricane Gloria. YIPPEE. Stay safe, Roberta

At least you have a generator. I had one in my clutches, but wasn't able to get it. Just like last winter when I needed a snow blower...couldn't find one of those either. I have one now, so I can guarantee we will not have any snow next winter.

My trees would laugh at any ropes I would put around them. I actually hugged the scariest one this evening and told it to stay strong (this hurricane is getting to me I guess
