Yep. My neighbor made the mistake of removing some trees off his house before the insurance guy came, and it gave him all sorts of trouble...even pictures didn't help him much, so I'd say you're doing the right thing leaving them there for now.

I cannot believe you can't remove the trees until the insurance adjuster comes. What an idiot. We live in Texas about 2 1/2 hours drive from the Gulf of Mexico and we know more about hurricanes than I ever wanted to know. But at least here, the insurance companies want homeowners to do what is possible to secure their homes from further damage. Had huge oaks fall on our home in hurricane Ike 3 years ago. We got help with chainsaws and cleared the wreckage. Then we tarped the roof to prevent further water damage. BTW, whatever we spent to secure our home was 100% REFUNDABLE. We had to enlist the help of loggers to take down a tree that was poised to smack our home and do even MORE damage. What we paid the loggers and what we paid our neighbor with the chainsaw was refunded. The adjuster even complimented us on how well we covered the roof and protected our home. Your insurance company is crazy. It took 2 weeks to see an adjuster to look at our home. I hope yours doesn't take long.

But you've got batteries for your laptop.

Without power, how does your cable modem and router work? are you on dialup?
