Hurricane Irene - Watch out East Coast

ugh i am thankful for no flooding and i feel for those dealing with that. the lake my house sits on is full again tho. i am actually thinking i might try and have them remove a few more trees. some were damaged pretty bad and will likely become a hazard in years to come.

The storm after the storm! WOW REALLY! We are now having seveir thunder storms tonight! The ground is so wet right now. We have had one line of storms go through and now we are having another line come through. There is nothing that smells worse than a wet chicken. I don't even think they like the way they smell when they are wet! But the coop is nice and dry and cozy but they can only stay in so much. Got 25 eggsfrom 30 BR's. so they aren't too stressed.

We got mostly wind. The tree's were shaking like crazy. We only had one tree fall down and it just missed my neighbors deck. We also had a big branch fall that just missed our garden. We were lucky. There is alot of leaves everywhere and branches too. Nothing major, thankfully! We also lost our power for 2 days and we just got it back. I hope everyone is doing well!

Sorry to hear about your house backdoorchicken.

Thank goodness everyone is OK for now. If you have lost things in the basement, be thankful! I don't know whats worse, house fire or house damaged by water. Both are not good odds to be in and I hate anyone to feel displaced or suffering the losses of material things, particlarly family heirlooms.

Those two hundred year old barns can only take so much and hopefully you won't have to face another one like this in another 50 years or when we are long gone from this earth.

Oh my goodness, Brian Williams just spoke about Irene, and 30,000 chickens were killed..............just in the state of Maryland.

I heard that. Thats low #s for how many they have in the chicken houses 60,000 in ea house. I'm guessing it was a meat chicken house that got the damage.

Its the flooding thats getting everyone now...
My hubby had to drive to VT today for work, and they had to take all kinds of diversions because bridges are washed out...etc...

I saw on the news they were having to air drop some food/supplies at some place in VT...
My husband had to drive there to bring some food somewhere...
