Hurricane Irene - Watch out East Coast

We are about in the same boat. My hubby will be pulling a 12 hour shift, though, as a Paramedic. If the winds get over 30 mph, they will not allow them to take calls. They will also not allow them to leave the building to go home until the winds are under 30 mph. So, it will be me and the dog plus all the critters to ride out the storm.

I'll be thinking about you and him. Camp LeJeune is a lot closer to the "danger zone" than we are.

If you find a station wagon camped out in E-Town in front of Melvin's, it might be me running away. There will be chickens, cats, a dog and 2 kids plus me!!!

Either that or I will be doing this

the WHOLE time. Then go play out in the wind once the worst is past!!!

I'll be praying for your husband too!!!

i want to bring in my chickens but i dont think my dad will let me there is a tree that is leaning towards the coop and it will fall right on my coop and then my turkeys chickens and peafowl will be gone

How many birds are you talking about?? Surely if you had a few, you can bring them in. BUT if you're talking about 30 or 50 fowl, that might be hard to do. I have seven hens....and one isn't doing very well

I think the best we can do is just keep up with the news and be prepared, then if you need to do something drastic ( like take your chickens indoors

) then that's what we'll do!

there are 38 chickens not including the like 15 rooster in my rooster pen and there are 4 peafowl

that my dad will at least let me bring them in and then 5 turkeys and 2 goats if you look in my siggy you can see

Good luck everyone! Luckily I am right on the outskirts of the path. They are predicting e will get scattered thunderstorms with winds about 22mph. My cousin was set to move into the University of Delaware this weekend but they cancelled it. My uncle left for Ocean City, MD at 5am to pull his boat out of the water before they started evacuating today. I know That I will be locking the chickens in just in case, and we will be filling the bathtub with water too. Luckily we have a gas stove so we can still cook.

Hello, East Coasters! Hurricane Irene is currently bearing down on North and South Carolina. If it continues along it's projected track, it'll hit all the way up to New England. Has everybody got their preps in? Food, water, batteries and gas? Anybody evacuating?
