Hurricane Ophelia - Ireland

I'm in Tipperary, so preparing as best I can, just in case. Thankfully I have a strong shed housing my hens, so they'll be safe. I'm a bit worried about my friends down in West Cork, but hoping for the best :fl

50 chickens in your bathroom would give the term “overrun with chickens” a whole new meaning! Hoping for the best for you all over there! Good luck and let us know how it goes![/QUOTE
LOL.
yes it would give overrun with chickens a whole new meaning.
And to make it worse there would be 7 roosters in the mix.
There would probably be some feathers missing!

Hopefully the worst that will happen is a power outage but I think there will be a lot more than that

Hi sumi.
I'm in Co.Tipperay as well but right on be border with limerick.
Your lucky all of your birds can be indoors.
I have a big shed but I don't have room for everything.
Yes I am worried for people I know on coastal areas.

I hope it's not as bad as they say.

I was just across that border in Limerick 2 years ago when we had that storm. I remember it was not too bad, so fingers crossed!

It's foggy over here by me this evening. Hard to think what we might get up to in the morning...

Status red warning issued for the whole country.
All schools, universities are closed.

Status red weather alert issued for entire country ahead of Ophelia's arrival

All hospital appointments and surgery has been cancelled tomorrow too!

It's now said that it's an actual hurricane heading towards Ireland,
Not the reminants of one which is what it was thought to be at the start.

This is the most powerful storm to have ever been this east of the Atlantic Ocean.
