Hurricane Ophelia - Ireland

ESB is ready for power outages, so :fl It's weird sitting here waiting on this storm... It's so quiet outside at the moment. I need to get some sleep, but I'm a little worried. Hoping we won't lose power mostly. Tipperary is under orange @ChickenGrass I see Limerick is red. Hope you're going to be o.k. over there. You're closer to the expected path.

@sumi
Yes I saw that ran are ready for power outages.
I just woke up here,
It's 8:05 am and I can already see the winds outside.
The storm Isn't due to hit here until around 9/10 am
Tipperary is now in a red warning @sumi.
The whole country is.
I hope I don't loose power either.
I'm in Tipperary but right on the border with limerick,
So I may get it slightly worse than some other places further inland

In previous storms do you lose power for long periods of time?

I suggest you play on BYC as much as possible right now while you still have power!
:woot
Forget sleep...you can do that tomorrow. lol

In the last 'bad' storm we had j lost power for 5 days.
That storm wasn't as bad as this one though.

Yes I think I will stay on byc all day until/ if I loose power.

It's 10:30am here now and it's quite windy, raining a bit too, but o.k. outside. It's said to be heading our way though, towards Dublin where it's expected to hit around 01:00pm, before moving further.

I read an update on Cork and Kerry just now. Lots of power outages, roads blocked etc.

@ChickenGrass stay safe and stay in touch as best you can, please. Hope you're o.k. over there.

It's windy here too,
But the bad news is the storm still Isn't over me!

We are getting gusts of around 80km/h but they are going to be 130km/h

I just went out to check all of the poultry and they are all fine.
Some ducks are even swimming in the pond!

I hope we don't get the weather as bad as they think but we will just have to wait and see.

Stay safe @sumi and all others in Ireland etc.

hi all,
Tomorrow here in Ireland we are supposed to get hit with the worst storm we have had in the last 50 years!
Gusts over 130 km/h (80 mp/h)
By the time it reaches Ireland it will be a tropical storm as the water temp is too cool for the hurricane to keep coming.
My area is in a red warning for wind
And an orange warning for rain ⚠️

I hope none of my chickens blow away

Everyone else in Ireland I hope you stay safe.
I think it's also going to uk so I hope you all stay safe too.
Will be praying for you and rest. Let us know how you make out.
