"That's what I'm worried about!

well then, start paying up in small installments now... it will keep him from being grumpy and you won't get the big "baloon payment" due after X amount of time...

* Little Ralphie, I think I need the dill bread recipe. . . My doesn't drink beer, doesn't have hobbies, (unless TV and sudoku count) and, unfortunately, no friends on the other side of the state. AND, ego stroking makes me nauseous. DILL BREAD sounds like my only hope!!!!!

I know my dh will get grumpy when he sees how much space the coop and run take up, when he sees how much money it will cost, how much feed they eat and how much it costs, etc. However, he gets to play with the vintage car that he is having fixed up, AND I will build the coop and run mostly myself, AND I have been stashing money found in the laundry, birthday money, etc for this purpose AND I am trying to use as many 'found' materials as possible. I have been wanting chickens for years too! Its about time I got them!

Send the boys to play at the neighbors when hubby is working on the coop. Take him a nice cold drink, make sure you're wearing something uh "provocative". He'll forget all about the work.

And yeah, we've had some friction in my house over the chickens stinking up the garage when they were in the brooder. A back rub for her took care of that arguement.

Yes. In fact, my O.C. hubby brings up the chickens about once a day...whether it's complaining about how many I have or asking me how many more we're going to end up with! LOL In fact, he started out with limiting me to 10 birds, total...INCLUDING my ducks! Then it was 15. Last night, 20. LOL I'm thinking I may be able to get away with 25?

My husband is the same way as alot of you gals' here...I just give him space. And I try to be thankful, for what he does for us/me. I do hear alot of, "da*n birds, pooing all over the place" and "I feel like I bought 4 bags of feed this week..." But in the end, he knows they make me happy, and it's something I do during the day that brings me joy, so he puts up with them.

amazingly the coop/run/chicken thing hasnt made my husband grumpy. He is actually taking the day the chicks are supposed to arrive OFF from work!

Years ago though. My horse caused some "friction"
He couldnt get why I had the "little jerk" The horse bit, kicked and was generally a snot. After I had my daughter I sold him to someone that would have time. And then I wondered why I had kept the l.b that long as well. Then, when our daughter was 2 I bought another horse. Over the phone, never met the horse or his seller. And from several states away. Didnt tell husband I was even thinking of doing this. Didnt tell him I had til he was walking in the door.
I have had my TB(OTTB) for 3 years now. At first husband didnt get it. Then one day I went to the barn in the morning and came home later in the afternoon a totally different person.

He hasnt said a word to me against my owning a pasture puff, that I dont have the time to ride, since that day. He finally GETS IT!
It also helps that my TB is very cool and gentle. Not a ear pin or threat of bite or kick since her has been mine. I LOVE my horse!

we are total oddballs. The chickens have brought our family closer together, and building the coop was A BLAST for all of us. One time I tried to staple (nail gun) his ass to the floor...but iside from that we enjoyed the working together and the building.
Now...him being off work for more then a week...THAT can cause a war...there is TO MUCH of a good thing!

but it will pass as most people have said.
