husband being shipped out with marines

Natural unmedicated is actually easier. You also recover SUPER fast.
I was up an in the shower within an hour of giving birth at home, we then had guests about 4 hours later (brought us thanksgiving dinner) Nobody could believe I had JUST had a baby.

Its hard work more than anything - hence I suggested earlier for you to get into shape, some walking etc.

I actually took bradley classes before my son was born, he was a c-section due to being footling breech. The next baby was the home birth baby - and about 200% easier, much more calm and relaxed, I moved around alot - ate, drank, took a few showers etc... There were no people poking and prodding me, hooking me up to machines and IV's.

Find a midwife, and go visit with her! You'll be pleasantly surprised - all my visits during pregnancy lasted about an hour each, we'd sit and chat, then she'd listen to heartbeat etc... she would let my son listen, it was very relaxing and nice to have a closer relationship to the person who will be helping deliver your baby.

wow I am definetly (sp) looking further into this natural birth stuff.

My shunt drains the fluid from my brain to my stomach and its 15years old because i got it when I was three years old.

I wish there was a way to talk all this over with Josh. I talked to his recuiter and he told me that he will send a phone request (or atleast thats what he called it) to Josh's stationed area, so that Josh will be allowed to call the next time he has a chance. I don't think Josh's recuiter likes me.

I am I allowed to have my best friend Trisha train and be my mid wife? Would they let her be one or will they just assign me one?

She could probably be your doula - a midwife takes a good few years, and an apprentiship.

not even if her mom is a RN and will be there with us?

She and her mother can be your coaches. You should be able to have as many people as you are comfortable with in the delivery room with you. For a home birth, you want someone with specialized training. They have to know if the delivery is proceeding well or if it is time to call in a Dr.

My first needed a Dr, there were heartrate issues. My second, I had a midwife assigned to me who was with me the whole way and I don't even think a Dr was in the room. My third, a Dr. came in to catch - his words not mine LOL On the third, I had an epidural and I think that might have been why he was there - not sure - he disappeared but I had the same nurse before, during and after the birth, she was great.

in the state of PA i believe u have to be a LPN to be a midwife, my sister works for the dubois hospital i'll ask. u r not that far from me i'm in jefferson county. most docs around this area will not take on a patient after there 2nd trimester starts if they have a doc already due to high risk because they don't know the history of the patient. it usually is very very hard to transfer to another doc but i have done it. u may still have a little time to get a new doc if u need it.

if u want to look into a midwife check to see if there is a healthy beginings agency near u if not i can stop at the one here to see if they have anyone or any services like that near u. there is another one called peritech too. they r LPN nurses who have retired from the hospitals ect who r now midwives. i went through healthy beginings with all my kid's they r great help with stuff and mine was for home health nurse visits. most insurances will pay for their services if not one usually the other.

as a mom to 5 who has had 3 naturals and 2 c-sections, i'm sure i could answer alot of questions for u if u have any. i've had babies that were breech, stuck under rib cage, born at 8cm not turned face down and stuck and other problems. had IV only pain meds, eppi and spinals and spinal block done. yet all my pregnancies were healthy. so if u have any questions feel free to ask away. if u have the baby in the hospital u can have usually 2 people of ur choice with u, home birth is who u feel comfortable with.

when my son turned breech the day i went into labor with him we had to scedule a section. if a baby is not turned head down at 36 or 38 weeks i think it is they do alot of sono's to monitor them. i had to go through that the last week i carried him i had to have one every day to monitor him and 3 before surgery to be safe. they also had to hook me up to monitors for his heartbeat and such to make sure he was not stressed before they started. u r way to early to be talking section for breech plenty of time to turn. if u were at high risk u'd be monitored alot or would have sonos sceduled alot they would make sure of the babies progress and inform u. i think the section was mentioned due to ur shunt to be honest cuz any doc would know the baby is to young to be considered breech yet it has loads of room yet to do flips and time. ask if ur hospital has 24 hour in house anestisia, that is a very very important thing if u may have to have a c- section or emergancy one.
hugs,
silkie
