What a great pic, Tuff. Those sweet, trusted ponies are worth their weight aren't they? babysitters, they call them
poor horse, RoPo... Is that a kentucky mountain horse or something like that?
I took a few pics of the farm today. I grew up here but, haven't lived here in over 15 years... very excited to be home
the old pump... doesn't work anymore but, that doesn't effect its coolness
view from the front porch.. can see the fence work needed on that spot to the right. Rusty sank a couple new posts last week. We're replacing rotten boards this weekend
the chicken barn and the three stall run-in.
Hutch in the CORRAL
Hutch chasing me
just peckin around.. the guineas are new. And, they are well worth the noise because of their stink bug addiction
Thanks, RoPo! We are really working hard on it. It's been in my family for a long time. My father could no longer care for it and moved in with his GF. My husband and I rented out our home and moved in with my brother. We're all chillin here together and it's been really great. I didn't know what it was like to be able to just turn my kid loose and not worry about roads and cars and ...anything. We are really loving it. Here's some more pics I took today.. after the storm... really neat lighting.
Here's some pics of the pasture up by the house
and here's one of the hay field
This is the farmhouse. The two cast iron tubs are going to by my herb gardens
back part of the house and the hay field that wraps around. See our HUGE stack of firewood ready for the Winter
Yeah, the heating stinks in that house. It's oil and only part of it has the vents. We have iron louvered registers in the upstairs bedroom floors so that the hot air can rise up naturally. Which translates into sleeping in flannel PJ's and having a thick down comforter.
What's the history of that house and land when it first being started? I am guessing the house to be in the late 1880's? But no earlier than 1850's the way the house looks pre-Federation style.
