I’m back, new eggs on the way!!!

I candled tonight! 16 I ended up pulling of the 20 I thought might be clear. Three I left cuz I cant tell whats goin on in there, too dark so its now 83 going strong

That’s not bad then only pulling 16, that’s gonna be a lot of fluffy butts in the end lololol

I swear I always get a bit of an odd ball even when hatching all browns lol I get a dark face chick once in a while and when they grow up they seem to have a weird feather pattern like a rosette or something and missing the stripe on the head. Plus they are darker and redder I dunno they just don’t look quite the same must be some gene hiding in there.

I’m gonna check my small brood later tonight make sure no one decided to just “check out” on me and I won’t bother them again til weds lol I haven’t checked them in a couple days now.

So I got today, tomorrow and then sometime weds I’ll take out the turner and lock ‘em down! I like to look through the top for wiggling eggs

He had told me there a 1 in 100 chance of hatching an odd color from this line as he used so many lines to get them out-bred over the years.

I think id like an oddball pen who could be just pet layers

Im all done til lockdown now i lock on the 7th

Ill be watching for wigglers too thats when ill remove the bars and lay them down

And good news! DsD decided she would keep a couple quail after all. She didnt realize the celadon we were discussing was the blue egg and she likes the idea of collecting her own eggs from her own birds. I asked her what if theres some sorta runt among these and she was very exciyed that yes she would Have to raise it. So we will shall see what happens next!

Any info you could give me on incubating quail eggs in that incubator? I have the same one and will be incubating in April

Which incubator do you have? Did I miss that?

I checked my eggs last night and it looks like I had one quitter I dunno his air cell is really bad and detaching so I think he’s gone to where the baby quail go to the hen house in the sky, that leaves 20. All the rest are just about blacked out now. Nothing really to see except on the really light colored eggs!

Removing turner tomorrow! Lockdown in T minus I don’t know but it’s less than 24 hours! Lol!

you have the octagon 40 or the 20? Great purchase either way congrats! And it doesnt say where your located, that can have a major impact on incubation. Here in southern LA it's so humid we can nearly drink the air.

Thqt this a brinsea Octogan 40 its amazing they're very pricey brand new but I lucked up n found this one on craigslist. Those shipped eggs r tough

Do they hatch in there too? I’ve not looked at these. I wanted one of the ones with a door but I don’t “need” anything right now so... lol...

I just have the hovabator and the little janoel 12 for small batches. I think the hovabator holds like 50-70 I can’t remember but the largest I have done was just over 40.

Squeeeeeee!!! I’ve seen most of my eggs wiggling now lol I keep looking through the top with a flashlight lol

It’s going to be such a distracting few days...I set up the brooder for now and I gotta grind down some food cause my crumbles are too big, aside from that we are good to go. I just have to keep my head on my work and not in the incubator lol it will happen when it happens lol

That sounds about right for the hovabator and it is a fine machine. When you wanna get into a cabinet ur better off to build it. The info on this site is enough to build anything just as nice as u could buy it but hundreds of dollars cheaper
