I’m thinking this isn’t going to turn out okay

I would indeed be curious to see an xray, even if they don't do anything about it. And like others have said, don't apologize for doing what's reasonable in this situation. At this point I'm tempted to agree with you. It does seem like she ate it and it's coming out from her guts. I think this is like when you get impaled with something: the instinct is to pull it out, but it's better to just leave it alone because when it is removed it's no longer stemming blood flow from severed vessels inside. If she gets along ok I guess just cut the end off and hope for the best. Amazing she survived swallowing it honestly. Best of luck to you all :hugs

I don't know. They put metal hips and knees and bolts and screws in humans every day of the week and it turns out alright. Why can't she live with a screw in her? I just thought to use the endcutters to snip off the pointed end of the screw, not the entire thing up to her belly. Please keep us updated on her health. We are pulling for the both of you! :fl

Well, they sterilize those things, and they put them in bones. They don't use a nonsterile item that's poking through the wall of an organ and outside the body. Any solid object poking outside the body is a site where infection can get in, not to mention that you aren't supposed to have an object pinning part of your organ to something else. This is in no way comparable to the screws they put in bones.
She might do okay, but if she does, it will be out of luck and of scar tissue forming in the right spots to deal with it.

Another thing to think about. That is a sheet rock screw. Not a surgical grade metal device. The screws and artificial hips, etc are made of titanium, stainless, or other non-ferous alloys. Even though that screw may have black paint or anodization on it, it was never meant to be in any living body. It will give her problems eventually, if it doesn't kill her first.
I hate to be so "bring em down" but I'm not a bliss ninny that thinks everything is always "cool and groovy". I recommend removing the whole screw. But if you can't do that, at least cut it off flush with skin. That will make it smaller to pass thru her. You will have a hard time cutting thru that screw with end cutters, You can get more leverage with large side cutters/dykes. Google them. IMO, you need to remove the screw even if you have to get someone else to do it.
Good luck! :fl
