Chicks fly surprisingly well until they get bigger and heavier.

My California White still flies anywhere she wants to and stays in the pen only because she has no particular desire to get out.

At almost 21 weeks the Blue Australorps can clear the 48" fence if they feel motivated to do so and even the 23-week-old Brahmas can still occasionally make it over when startled or if they have a launch point.

Well you do have to admit they’re pretty ginormous! They can’t really fly very well, they’re way too heavy and when they run it looks like a bus coming at you. When mine runs it makes me laugh every time!
Every other chicken is going to look like a Bantam compared to them!

Well, I’ve got more news coming down the pike. I got hatching eggs (eBay) Crele English Orpingtons arriving (hatching) Sunday. Bought 6, received 8, and 6 are percolating. I can hardly wait!!
