They are knock out beautiful and very unlikely from hatchery stock...........................
We were put in comtact with a guy who had to move so gave us his chickens, waterers,feeders,ect.ect.
How could I say no.......................
Well, I am not very good with that word anyway

The EE is unusual........looks orp from the back.but definate muffs on her face.
I'll see what color her legs are tomorrow......
I've got to figure out how to put the pics up.grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Anyway, I have so enjoyed this thread..
Makes me laugh.I'm sure DH thinks I have slipped a clog.....................

Some Questions...

1) Do you give them pellet feed or crumbles?
2) Can you give the eggs you want incubated to broody bantam chickens?
3)Do I have to put netting over the pens since they will be on the ground most likely?
4)Do they brave the summer and winter well?

I'll edit this if I find more questions or need more help.

Great choice, ducklover1!
1) Because I can't get waterfowl feed down here, I have to feed them Flockraiser mixed with oats and give them some oyster shell on the side.
2) Yep, a chicken will incubate duck eggs.
3) I would, just for your own peace of mind if nothing else. The little white ones, especially are so loud and so white that they are hawk bait deluxe.
4) That's a tricky one. Down here, I have to worry about the heat, but the bantam ducks actually do better in the heat than the standards. The cold...well, I personally would try to provide some heat for them with the kind of brutal winters you have in Illinois.

Good enough?

Yup, Answers all my questions

We'll buy some netting and the coop is insulated but I need to put some windows in it and were redoing it this spring sooo I think that should cover it

But on the feed I just feed the ducks I have now Meatbird Feed, I'll give you the link to what I buy.

It's really funny you should say that about the feed-a lot of people don't realize it's not the ducks themselves that stink, it's that wet feed.
I told my DH that my Calls smell like fabric softener-and they honestly do(well, after they've had a bath)-he just rolled his eyes at me.
Good call on the insulation and the netting. I'm really glad you did research as well-many people don't and are very surprised at how loud and energetic the Calls are.
Some people do feed the ducks the Broiler feed, that's one of the things the feedstore recommended to me.
Gamebird feed will work, too, if you can find that.

Hmmmm what does that flock raiser look like I think I've seen it before and how much oats would you mix in it and do you feed it to your breeders?
