I almost lost Blue Rooster because he loves me!

I didn't realize it wasn't your dog. That stinks. I would tell your bro he needs to keep his animals on his yard and that if one of your animals gets attacked, his will be held responsible. (which means a vet bill) and if you catch the dogs over there, you'll call animal control

seems harsh but there are rules set in place to protect livestock...I think you are, under the law, allowed to shoot a dog that attacks livestock...so he should know this is serious.

I've only been in the 'chicken business' for about a year, but my aunt and uncle have raised them all my life. They used to say that if a dog ever kills a chicken and tastes it's blood that you can never keep them from going after the birds in the future. My uncle said the only way you could stop them is to put them down.

Of course he isn't a dog trainer, so I don't know what the exactly validity of that is...

I have a pit bull myself but he stays on a 60 ft run and my chickens are confined to a coop/run with a top on the run so I haven't had much problem. I also have a low strung electric fence around my enitre chicken perimeter just in case. It is also a great deterrent for racoons and opossums...

This picture is outdated as I've done more painting and added a seperate run/coop to the end of the run in the picture for my roo and breeders...

You can see the electric fence by looking for the yellow insulators around the bottom... Not really what you're talking about here since yours range... I just thought I'd drop my two cents worth...

I thought I was going to have a repeat when I got home today. The chickens and ducks saw the truck turn in and by the time I went around the back drive and up to the side drive by the house they were running for the gate with Blue in the lead. He was running hell-bent for leather flapping for all he was worth, but then came to skidding stop about 5 feet from the fence and waited for me. Maybe he learned?
I talked to my brother and let him in no uncertain terms his dogs are history if they touch a feather or hair on any of my animals and he knows I'm serious too.
