I Am So Mad!!!!!!!cruddy Neighbors!!!

my brother was attacked by 2 pit bulls when he was younger... took him a long time to feel secure about his lip, where the dog took a chunk out of!!!!!

dont let that dog hurt anyone else

Time are tough, and there are thousands of lawyers willing to take dog bite cases. Nothing gets peoples' attention like a good law suit.

In most states the law requires the reporting of a dog bite. You need to do this right a way, then go directly to your lawyer. He will send you to the appropriate medical services.

These idiotic people need to pay, and pay dearly.

P. S. See the other thread about the chicken owner that shot the dog.

Okay, thanks everybody.
We've been flushing Mom's bite with rubbing alcohol every day, and the dog had rabies tags, but that doesn't really mean anything...right now we are wondering how to talk to these people, as we would like to talk to them without going to their house and getting mauled!
I am going to talk to Mom about Animal Control. I don't think that this dog should get more chances to bite people, but she thinks that she might have just "had a bad day". Whatever.
I'm really surprised that she's being so calm about it, because she was badly bitten when she was younger (about 4, and on her face!).
My brother is fine, we washed him up very well. He had barely anything, and you can't even really see it anymore. What I found out today, was that he wasn't actually peddling, he was holding his hand to the dog, and she lunged at him! So it wasn't the bike motion, it was him...
Again, thanks. I wish I was the one in control of this, but I really don't want my family to be hurt anymore! My horse's paddock is right near the road....what if my horse got bitten? Or my chooks?
Did I mention that these people have like 3 children under the age of five? And one of them is a 2 month old or so? How could they live with themselves?

I want to say one more thing- who's to say the reason for the bad day wasn't rabies?

It's commonly accepted that animals become far more aggressive when infected. While it is unlikely, it isn't something you can just blow off- and the only way to be certain is to have an authority call the correct vet and confirm the vaccination date to be certain the tags aren't old...or some other dog's (there was a post in the last few days where a lost dog showed up with the collar of a BYC'er's dog...who had a new collar because of the lost one. It LOOKED legal!).

Remind your mother that usually the easy thing and the right thing are not usually the same thing. The neighbors had willful indifference while your mother was attacked- she needs to see that there isn't any relationship to preserve with these neighbors.

How could you live with yourself if it happened? Call Animal Control now, i don't know what you're waiting for. You don't have to go to their house, AC will handle it. AC would probably prefer you didn't if you know they have a vicious dog!

I dont know what you are waiting for either? Its a time bomb! Call the darn animal control, pronto! I dont care if it causes riffs between neighbors and regardless what the little boy did, what he did was unprokoved and uncalled for the dog to attack him. Any sensible dog would know NOT to bite regardless of what kids are doing, yelling, screaming, swinging or even doing what mischevous kids would do, to tease the dog.

The dog will bite too many more people.

Where I am, it is the law to report it. The dog would then go into a 10 day rabies quarentine (sp?) if it has been vaccinated. If it hasn't been vaccinated, off with his head - he needs to be tested for rabies - to see if your mother should start getting treatment for it. It's serious and you need to call the authorities if she won't. My friend worked with a guy that is dying of rabies - not pretty. Call the authorities.

ETA: don't talk to them yourselves, have the authorities deal with them.
