I Am So Mad!!!!!!!cruddy Neighbors!!!

OK, I am not trying to scare you, BUT I just posted a remark on here in another forum about dog bites. A neighbor of mine was messing with his buddies dog before Memorial Week-end, and the dog bit the end of his finger. He went home, cleaned it all up put triple-antibiotic ointment on it, and thought it was fine. It was on the outside, but inside he had a massive infection going on and it almost cost him his arm. He has to go to the doctor every day for several week for IV antibiotic treatments, because anytime a dog bites you, he has massive amount of bacteria in his mouth and can cause an infection. I heard a nurse at my 8 year old ball game talking about dog bites and she said anytime it breaks the skin you need to get antibiotics just as a precaution. So, keep an eye on both your little brother and your mom and call someone about that dog. . .the Sheriff needs to be notified for sure.

Frizzle, YOU MUST ACT NOW. Listen to what these good people are saying! We're here to help you... Being a dog lover myself, I hate to see someone's pet put to sleep, but when a dog bites, especially twice, it is a dangerous animal. These people have no one to blame for their dog's actions but themselves. Clearly they have not invested any time/attention/affection to this dog- otherwise it would be socialized, and these incidences would not have happened. If these people would not invest the time to train their dog properly, how can you know they invested the time/money to take her to the vet to have her shots? Rabies is a very serious illness, and is fatal unless treated immediatly. Please call AC. It is always sad to see an animal take "the last ride", but not so much if the animal has drawn blood.

** I am not hijacking, changing the subject, or trying to start a war, I only want to add this because it is my personal experience, so please, do not harass me** I own a Pit Bull. Diesel is one of the best and most loyal dogs I have ever owned. I know he has never hurt anyone, he is 7 and I have had him since he was 6 weeks old. That being said, givin the breed's bad reputation, as well as his sheer brute strenght, I would not allow him around children, or strangers, for that matter without supervision. It is not because I do not trust him- I would trust him with my life- and am willing to bet all the money in this world he would never hurt anyone- but my precautions stem from knowing that any animal with a mouth has the capability to bite. These precautions are not only for those who visit Diesel, but for Diesel himself.

(Sorry so long, I hate DB posts, they are usually avoidable)

I wish there were more people like you and less like the owners of the pit that attacked your DD. I am so sorry for your family to go through that

i only read a few posts after the OP but... i have to agree DON"T LET IT SLIDE! i was bitten by a dog that had only bitten one other time. he nipped his owners chin(my cousin) and when he bit me.. i ended up in the hospital. 110 stitches later... and scared to death of that dog.. and they never put it down or did anything as it was the "first" time. want pics? i can scan and post them. they had to shave my head to get the stitchest in. yes, the dog bit me in the head. it could have been way worse. i could have lost my face.. but he bit me on the side by my ear, bit my neck, and the top of my head. DON'T LET IT SLIDE!!! worst mistake ever

The "two bites" the dog gets before they're put down, is reported bites! So if you don't report it, it never happened and they won't be required to put the dog down next time it bites.
