I AM SO MAD!!!!!!

I would blame the PO.

We received our chicks 2 weeks ago from Ideal. The only casualty was a packing peanut that looked trampled. They shipped out on a Wednesday afternoon and I received a call at 6:30am on Thursday to come pick them up. We live in the middle of nowhere CA. The box said the shipment came through Los Angeles which is 3.5 hours away and I was really surprised how quickly we got them.

I hope your replacement shipment goes more smoothly!

I'm so sorry....wonder if the best thing to do is find a hatchery closer? I hate to think of the suffering the poor little ones had to endure.

,PO's fault though, most people on BYC have mostly good to say about Ideal Poultry me included (all of mine arrived alive last year) Good luck on the new batch!

I am very sorry for your loss.

However, I would like to correct a statement made in this thread about the people running the shipping department. Mail in the US 'moves' every day of the year except Chrismas. Therefore, shipping on Sunday or Monday of this week should have had no affect on your order. Evidently some where the chicks were misrouted or handled improperly by the postal service. We do guarantee live delivery and will replace or refund any losses that you incur.

We ship about 5 million chicks a year and have less than one percent die in transit. That is still a large number and it is very important if it is your order. Last week we shipped about 30, 000 chicks on Sunday and Monday and 70,000 on Tuesday and Wednesday and have had very little loss.

Again, I am sorry for your loss and if I can do anything for you please don't hesitate to e-mail me direct at [email protected], we appreciate your business.

I have not one time played the blame game, I know that things do happen, they were shipped the 15 and I did not receive them until the 19th that is too long in shipping. It just made me mad about all of them being dead. Like I said before I called and Ideal is resending my order out on the 4th of march maybe this time I can get them before they die. It just upset me to open a box at the PO and see all those dead babies in that box laid on top of each other like that, there were 2 that had what looked like blood coming out of their little beaks, It is just so sad.

Chikabator,

I know you did not blame us but someone else said there must be high scool kids running the shipping department because we shipped the day before a holiday. I just wanted to clarify that we do know what we are doing.

I just wanted to jump in here. I have dealt with Ideal for a few years now. Despite one mistake (bantams sent instead of standards)--which they replaced the next year at no cost to me, I have had good luck with them. The birds are better than most other hatcheries as far as quality (IMO) and I did place an order for shipment in June (2009).

idealpoultry It is staggering to me that you got on here and politely defended yourself while offerin generously to ammend this problem. Your actions here will weight greatly on my decision of where to buy from! I like to see business' ran in such a mannor
