I bought a mare on New Year's!

the marks on her nose are sweaty spots from a tied rope halter. No papers. No chance for any info on her background. I tried. The seller tried, but the seller before that did not give info, "doesn't want to be bothered" so she will just have to go on through posterity as "a grade mare" LOL oh well...

I thought of danschii and think, MAN, if she could find a horse like this, she would be STOKED and have a lot of fun... I think this mare would suit her perfectly. (except it is not a stallion.)

I bet she will train just fine for you,,many times those older ones are in a much better frame of mind to go to work and they can handle the stress better..plus she is done growing so you wont have to worry as much about stressing her body.

Exactly!

At least you tried, but having a loving owner and good home, what more would she ask for? Either breed her to an Arabian or Andalusian, you would have ONE smashing foal!

Sometimes location of breeder helps, if you know where she lives, and you can google the address, that would give you the breeder's name that she has. Then bloodtyping of her herd would do some processing and elimination of all the horses she had on the property. Other than that, if you can, register as half Arab.

Ah, such a beautiful mare and a pity no knowledge of pedigree..........such a shame!

Now, forward on!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice! As long as she wasn't untouched for 6 years because of temperament issues (some Andalusians or crosses can be extremely, um, not a horse for just anyone and easily fried into a dangerous state, especially mares), she should be a lot of fun for you!

I am usually the last person ever to encourage more breeding, but if she has a good temperament I think she would make really, really nice babies with the right stallion and you should go for it

What about breeding her to something Welsh, either pony or Section D if you want something larger? I think that would complement her strong points while giving a little more bone and hind end and adding to good temperament.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

WOW! Congrats! I LOVE her! Now that is my type of horse! What a typey mare. I am jealous!

I agree breeding her with a really well tempered welsh or even a small morgan stallion should be a really nice cross. If I had her I would deff cross her to my morgan stud. Might not end up a pony though.

Also...if the Arab sire/dam was registered you could register her as a half arab if you wanted papers. But a agree a nice horse is a nic horse...papers or not.

Looking at the pictures, I am guessing Khemosabi and Bey Abi with a Bask thrown in for the Arabian part.

Other than that, I hope she will be a wonderful riding horse!

Cute little thing, good luck with her... can't recall ever seeing such a cresty neck on a mare...except on a few that had Cushings. Hope your new girl is as healthy ... as a horse!
