Hi everyone! I have a small question.... I'm wondering, the ducklings will arrive in the mail at the feed store on Friday, and the feed store is maybe 10 minutes from our house. I only have one heat lamp, the brooder is too big to take in the vehicle, so...... I'm wondering if the ducklings will be alright for that 10 minutes just being in a box with towels and in a warm vehicle.... Thanks! Also; in y'all's experience, how fragile are ducklings? I'm kinda stressing and worrying that I'm going to do something wrong...? Just looking for some reassurance ig lol thanks so much!!

Just how cold could it be outside? And you'll have a warm vehicle and it's only 10 mins right? Chances are they'd have had it rougher already in the mail. If they survive the mail, they'll survive the trip home.

Don't worry! The ducklings have been in their box in the mail for over 24 hours, usually without a heat source other than their own body heat. I have no clue how cold it still is in Colorado, but they will do fine in your car. Ducklings are very hardy, very resilient creatures - except for their legs. Don't use a box that is too big, they might slide back and forth and left and right and may injure themselves.
The reason why one of my White Layer ducklings was injured was that Metzer had shipped them in a large box. They used a larger box for five ducklings than IdealPoultry had used for ten.

OK so hopefully with these pictures you can piece together the area I have for the ducks outside. Later today, I will be working on cleaning up this area more and doing plumbing for the tub. Oh and I'll add a ramp to the duck deck that is even with the tub, and putting turf around edges of tub, and waterproofing the duck deck (that piece of wood between fence and tub) What do y'all think? (brooder pics to come)
