I CANT WAIT ANYMORE FOR THESE EGGS!!!!!

I have 10 hens that are now 25 weeks old - 2 RIRs, 2 Gold Sexlinks, 2 Australorps, and 4 Ameraucanas. My RIRs started laying REALLY early, around 16 weeks. My GSLs followed very shortly, like the following week. Both my RIRs and GSLs have laid at least 6 eggs/week since they started laying (really hit the ground running!). My Australorps haven't been laying for very long and still aren't laying very well, and my Ameraucanas started maybe 3 weeks ago, but I only get 1 egg a day (even though there are 4 of them).

I have heard that high protein diets are associated with early layers. Are your girls getting enough protein?

I remember finding a clutch in the nest box because i never knew they started laying. Lol are you sure their isnt a hidden nest?

My 7 are 24 weeks and nothing, I don't even care if the egg has a shell on it, just a show of some effort would make me happy! I run out everyday with such excitement, ready to get a look at the beautiful egg my spoiled girls have laid for me.......grrrr

I go egg nest hunting just in case they laid one while free ranging.
They have become very noisy the last few weeks.
I think this Marans is gonna be first, she is so red and she squats a lot.
Fat, lazy girl just wants to nap.

Andreanar,
The squatting for me was the real indicator. Last Monday Pip and Aretha squatted for me and Pip laid her first beautiful perfect egg on Saturday. Aretha laid hers today (Monday). Rosie squatted for me today so I am hoping an egg from her this week or next. Running to and from the nesting box is a great indication too, flinging the nesting material all over. I understood that they may not lay eggs every day because of the short day length, but I have gotten an egg from Pip three days in a row...

I even have these ceramic eggs. I put them in the nest boxes. what if they don't lay until spring because there is not much light? would that happen? I got the last batch from the place I got it from. this lady there said she got the 1st batch and they are laying. they are 51/2 weeks older than mine. another lady who got hers from the same batch didn't get her eggs yet either. they are defiantly getting ready though! I will post some pics in a few days. they haven't started squatting yet. As I said above, one of the girls was singing the egg song. thank you guys so much for all the help!
