My hubby "doesn't like the chickens" either.

My old hen, Buttercup, has arthritis and can't climb the ramp to the coop. So, she needs to be picked up and placed in the coop and taken out in the morning. Hubby will grumble about how much extra work she is. Meanwhile, he sits in the lawnchair outside with her on his lap, petting her. Then, when we are all outside and let the birdies run freely in the yard, he'll make a beeline for her, to carry her out of the run... Just so she can "be out here with the rest of us"! And he'll beat me to it, too! It's not like I'm asking him to go get her! LOL I have caught him hand-delivering worms from his garden to the hens. I worked this weekend, so he was taking care of the chickens. He had a few cute stories about their antics when I came home. Nope, he doesn't like those chickens, not one bit... heehee!

Haha, mine actually wants to hire a professional chicken sitter instead of the neighbor hood boys, just to make sure nothing happens to them. Thats just to funny XD

Afraid of there feet?? Thats very strange, but not totally unheard of I guess XD

My BF says he doesn't like the chickens and says he hates chickens in general (He worked for a neighbor in his chicken houses when he was little and you know how awful chicken houses can be). But he'll mention "I like that one's color." And then when I say something to our neighbor that has chickens that "Ryan likes that little guy over there" he chimes in with "No I don't! I just said I like it's color! That does not mean I like it!"

He's also seemed to take a liking to my little roo. He'll play with the chicks when we let them outside and will listen to my endless chicken chatter but later will deny any hint of liking them. lol

He built me a great coop and is working on finishing putting the poultry wire on top of the run today. Yesterday when we bought the wire he was trying to convince me to buy the BIG roll "for when we build more runs"

He hates the chickens....

This thread is hilarious!

My husband was not really excited when I told him I wanted to get hatching eggs and start up a backyard flock.

I got the impression he was dreading it and only humoring me hoping it wouldn't mean too much work for him.

Now, he admits that he loves them. He frets and worries over every noise and I'm not even allowed to do coop maintenance anymore - somehow it has become "his responsibility" to take care of them! lol

Silly husbands!

Ha ha, I have enjoyed reading this! My husband loves chickens! It was partly his idea to start raising them for eggs, and he built the coop for them in his spare time. When we lost them the other day he was more upset by it than I was!

My hubbie claims to dislike the chickens. He will say they are messy and need too much fussin from me. BUT......

He has been caught multiple times talking and feeding the chickens treats. He smiles and encurages the guinea's to follow him on the mower after bugs. He LOVES when the Polish roo comes up and sits on his fourwheeler and rides around the yard with him. (When momma lets them out to free range that is

) He will remind me to get them things extra all the time. If he hears something go bump in the night he is out there counting before my feet hit the floor. He sits in the coup with them, I "loose" my hubbie all the time and find him there. He is ever changing or tweaking the houses to make them more comfortable. Same man who I cannot get to paint or sweep in our own house. He drives for a living but refuses to be gone all day b/c of the chickens. He also tells everyone who will not run away from him about "His" ladies and little men.

Sometimes I think he would trade me for a Polish or even a sexlink...........
