I crossed a cream legbar with a ----- and this is what I got

You must be excited for sure! My Cream Legbar chicks arrive Wednesday morning. 3 cockerels and 1 pullet. May I ask where you got yours from? Good luck, I can't wait for mine to show, hope they are ok as they are only a few days old.
are you having your chicks shipped or buying locally? I have to ask----why 3 boys?

Back to your original question, I had my french black copper marans rooster over my legbar hen. I got 7/7 babies hatch, and it turns out that is a sex link- the boys had a white spot on their head and were very obviously barred. The females are almost solid black.

Pretty dramatic difference, no?

They're only 8 weeks old now (that picture is a couple weeks old), so they haven't grown out. Also, I sold the two boys because I need more roosters like I need a hole in the head, so I don't have grown pictures. I'm guessing when they lay, they'll lay olive eggs. I'll keep you posted though.

I think to use legbars for a sexlink, you have to have a legbar hen with a black rooster over her. I found this article very informative on making sexlinks: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/261208/sex-linked-information

thankyou you so much for the photo and the link. please do keep me posted on the egg color.
I am not trying to make sex linked chicks. I am only trying to make pretty chicks. I know my boy has 2 copies of the barring gene. I am hoping that some of the polish/legbar chicks will be barred.

This is the splash hen I have with my legbar. her mom was a splash cochin and her dad is the roo pictured above. does anybody have a guess as to what I will get for chicks?

I put my production red hen, Peaches, in with my Cream Legbars. She had been exposed to a production red and blue ameraucana before and I was curious how long it would take for her to start laying eggs fertilized by the Cream Legbar. I put 6 eggs in the incubator and eggs 3,4,and 6 hatched. 3 and 4 look like reds but by 6 I got my cute CL cross.
Chick 3, Honey
Chick 4, Butter
Chick 6, Verbal
Here they are with some cream legbar males.
This is a very old picture of Peaches.

I hope Verbal is a girl!

I know 3/6 are males so I'm hoping the others are females but it wouldn't surprise me if they were all boys!

Hi, just saw your post, I did buy them from a nice fellow in Texas. I live in Idaho. They are almost 1/3 grown now with their crests and they are cool looking. One of the cockerels arrived dead and the other 3 are perfect. He sent me a free Rhodebar cockerel and several barred rock chicks all for free to provide heat for cream legbars. Good fellow to deal with. Foghorns Chickens is name on ebay. He immediately credited my account on paypal within 5 minutes of me emailing him about the loss.
It is always a 48 hr shipping to my place from anywhere except local.

Nice pics of the chicks....hope one is pullet and then breed it back to father and see what comes out....should show auto sexing I think of F2 genereation.

Crossed a CCL roo with some hatchery straight comb lt. br. leghorn hens Hatched seven- six pullets, one dark almost black with red/gold in the hackle, the five others grey/brown with the salmon breast feathering and one rooster, almost black with the red/gold hackle. All are crested. got my first pullet egg yesterday (at 20 weeks). A beautiful shade of blue.
