I DO NOT understand some people!!!!!!

Have you thought about calling her and getting some clarification? I've learned the hard way that there are a lot of shady horse people. It sucks to think about, especially if you're one of the many, many not-shady horse people! Maybe a phone call would clear up any confusion/concern with the situation. I'm hoping for the best for you! I know how it is when you meet the perfect horse...I have 2!

Don't be sorry for being disappointed. It's hard when you get excited about something and it looks like it might not work out. Here's to hoping all the other prospective buyers seem evil to her!

Why not just call her and find out exactly whats going on??

Is she going to sell the horse if these people want her..or wait for you? Thats the simple thing to do...

Perhaps she is just letting other people look in case you change your mind, and was letting you know so that if you did change you mind you wouldn't feel obligated? I would call and ask...

As far as the down payment goes, if you simply changed your mind I would say no you don't get the money back. But if the horse was misrepresented mentally or physically and fails the inspection, I would say yes you should get it back. If I put a down payment on a TV and had a technician go look at it for me only to find that it's broken or in any other way misrepresented, I would want my money back.

I agree, she's probably just letting other people look just in case. I know with me, I would let other people look but tell them that there is a very interested buyer who is having him checked out and if that buyer is not interested, then I would take other offers.

Some of what you said about her telling you about other people looking might be a way of pressuring you to buy faster by making you think that someone else is going to buy the horse first.

SO did it work out, or are you still going to possibly miss out on this horse?
Are you looking for a mare, or just a nice well broke horse?

IF they sell this horse out from under you, there was probably a good reason behind it....
The horse would most likely not have passed a pre purchase exam. Or they were more interested in the money than a good home for the horse.
This is only IF they sell the horse before you can get your 200 hold money down.

AND the reason I ask if you are interested in a mare vs a gelding,... I took in a great arab gelding, I am doing further evals this weekend and next week.
I am facing a little battle to get his papers though... He would be very cheap, as I am not looking to make money off of him, and if a person wanted him
before I got the papers, they would have to spend about 200 to get them.

Also where I board at she has some AWESOME pinto horses and half arabs for sale.

Keep us informed on the situation.

I have not heard anything back from her since I asked why she was having people come out if we had an agreement.

The other people are supposed to come out today.

The only thing I could see from when I looked at her, were that her teeth were due to be done. But thats not a big deal.

We are actually looking for 3 horses. All trail horses that are well broke. My husband and I are advanced beginner to intermediate level riders, and want to buy 3 nice solid trail horses. Somewhere between the ages of 4-12 years old.

I personally have never been a fan of arabs, but this horse was super sweet. She acted more like a QH than an arab other than her tail set.

We dont care about papers, or having a registered horse. We are just looking to have 3 nice horses to use and trail ride around our property and the trails around us.

I think I may call them tonight if I do not hear back from her today.

The more I think about it, I keep thinking she is trying to sell her to someone who doesnt want a vet check. I may be wrong, but something just isnt sitting right with me now.

Just call her and confirm your vet check for tomorrow. You don't even need to mention the horse being seen by another buyer and if she did indeed sell the horse out from under you, well she'll have to tell you when you call. It's entirely possible that she's still showing the horse so she will have a back up buyer if you back out, and that's not unreasonable. If I was a seller I wouldn't necessarily be persuing potential buyers by calling them back and might take it as lack of interest if the buyer didn't call me back themselves. I realize there was a verbal agreement between you and her so I would put aside wondering what she's all about, call her back so she knows you are still planning on the vet check tomorrow. Everybody can get clear about what's going on, and then rely on the vet to help you make your decision.
