Bleh, Leghorns!

Edited to add: No offense to Leghorn owners, I'm sure your birds are fabulous.

My husband . . . the gruff grizzly mechanic . . . calls them the teddy bear birds. The males with their big puffed out chests come running up to him to be picked up, then they 'talk" to him. That wins them a place here . . . that and the fact that I REALLY HATE my incubator!

Lol ok this is a seriously funny thread

Love all the photos and funny posts....thanks for the laughs. On the serious side, yes, each to their own. I have silkies - show quality and hatchery - and I love them. Fiona is my little princess (yes she lives in the house and yes I dress her up!) and I adore her. However, it did take me awhile to develop this love. Simply could not feel or see the fascination when I first got them in the spring. But...I still love all my chickens, even my ugly frizzles

Oh I love mine. I have one I was going to cull but he has won me over again by being such a good peacemaker. I tossed the culls outside to fend for themselves until I could get around to uh.... well anyway--
I have this hormonal EE who bullies any chicken that comes into reach of him. He grabbed a Barred Rock Roo and was running him around by his feathers for about 1 minute.
My little silkie Roo went over there and kicked his butt! Chased that EE for 30 feet before he stopped. I loved every minute of it!

He is now Charger the Silkie and he stays.
