I DON'T like silkies!

Listen here. People have their own opinions. I for one love silkies. I lost my LOVELY silkies to a terrible disease. FYI my silkies are NOT clumsy. My silkies CAN roost on their own and they CAN fend for themselves. May be you have different silkies but mine ARE the sweetest things you have ever seen. My silkies ALWAYS cuddle with me. My silkies ALWAYS layed good sized eggs. My silkies ALWAYS used to come to me to get treats. I never bathed my silkies. Some people just like to do that. People like to put bows in their silkies feathers. That is their thing. It is NOT the silkies's fault for having bows in their feathers. My silkies ALWAYS cuddled with me. My silkies ALWAYS found the roost on their own. I cuddled with my silkies and when THEY wanted to stop cuddling I let them go. I have one more thing to say. Just because a silkie cuddles with you doesn't mean they aren't a chicken. Silkies are chickens too and I think you need to RESPECT that. That is all I have to say.

Finally, more people against silkies. Dont get me wrong, there are many other breeds that I could definately live without. I understand they all have their places within our hobby, but on my yard is not one of them. I have a true dislike for birds that become the "FAD". I.E. silkies, seramas, marans and orps. Yes, there are great birds and I can appreciate them from affar.

I understand the fad thing... especially with the marans right now, but silkies have been around for a pretty long time. Of course gamebirds/junglefowl have been here longer, but personally I dont care for them (games) as a breed. To each his own!

Absolutely. I dont condemn those who have them, just do not have a fondness for them.

Most definately!! They are the chicken ambassadors of the chicken world! I've got 5 myself, and all but one, is really sweet! I like to bring one to the pet store and get reactions from people. They always say, "how cute", then you hear, "what is it", I love it!! I do have one show girl, and she is a doll baby. Weirdness seems to be a thing with this family I guess.

evryone has their own taste... I have several regular chickens and I have 10 silkies... I got htem because I wanted something different... there are other breeds that I too don't like and there are other breeds that I would love to have... it would be an awful boring world if everyone had the same taste ..

Well, I have to agree. I have never been real fond of silkies. I have always thought they were ugly. That being said, recently I have seen the red silkies and for some reason they just appeal to me. I don't have any yet but I do intend to eventually get some. Not sure if I will like them even then but I do like getting unusual chicks. I guess that is why I am so into the crested breeds.
