I found a baby pigeon and need some help.

Today when I was walking home today I found a baby Pigeon. It was just sat on the floor and when I walked towards it, it didn't fly away. I looked to see if there were any nests or adults near by but couldn't see any. I didn't want to leave it there because it was a wooded area and it would have been eaten by a cat or a fox so I took it home. The little guy is currently in a cat box outside (it is warm).I have tried to feed it (I did some research and mixed warm water with honey and salt) but It didn't eat any of it.
I really need some advice on what to do because we have kept chickens before but never pigeons.

If he didn't run/struggle/fly away, I'm thinking he's probably sick or very dehydrated. Can you contact a wildlife rescue?

Have you tried dipping his beak? Do you have the materials/inclination to tube-feed?

If he's more than a week old, he can have scratch grains. (Pigeons are strictly herbivores, and need far less protein than chickens do.) Once you've got some water into him, you can try whole grains, especially corn. Pinch the sides of the beak and insert. He'll get the idea—the ones I had did.

Take some chicken pellets and grind them up in a blender with warm water. Or you can thaw some frozen peas and put them in his mouth, one by one, 20-30peas at a time.

Be sure to let his crop empty before feeding again. I like to use a postal scale to keep track of weight, before and after feeding. The chicken pellet gruel is best accepted just warm, ~100°. I'm guessing this baby is 2 weeks or older and should be fine on 2 feeds per day. Put some water and seeds out for him to peck at and he will learn to feed himself.

Check you tube for hand feeding baby birds. We got a pigeon the same way when i was about 10. I think my mom mixed up some thin malt o meal or cream of wheat and used a turkey baster to fill his crop. He stayed with us for about 16 years. Good luck
