It is here too. There area a few that fall into the lower price range, but the places aren't usually very nice, or are an hour from civilization. I really lucked out. I don't know how much of it was due to my instructor's intervention. It's nice to have so many folks so driven to find me a horse.

kinnip, what kind of riding are you looking to do? That is a rather important piece of this quest!

That sounds awesome! Look for a rescue horse or someone looking for a home for their loved animal. There are some great finds out there if you can find them. Around here, there are people giving them away to loving homes.

I've had a lot of experience jumping, but I'm trying to work on my dressage these days. I'm looking for a horse that's at least 15 hh, though I'd take less in an Arab. I'd like them to have some dressage experience. I feel confident I can teach a horse to jump, but I can't teach dressage. My budget is really low. I'm hoping to find someone with a nice horse they need to unload to a good home. As many of those as there seems to be these days, I'm not holding my breathe. I don't have the money to deal with chronic lameness, which is always a risk in underpriced/free horses. In the marketplace, I'm looking at middle aged horses with dressage training and behavioural issues. My seat is solid enough to deal with, and correct, bucks, spooks, crow stepping, etc., as long as the horse has decent ground manners. Anyone know a horse that fits that description?

I have the most gorgeous Arab gelding... My instructor says he could be National champion, and I believe her, she's a judge.... he's a rescue, so we have some emotional things to deal with, but if he has trust, he will do anything, and do it well. Gets 8-9 on gaits, has a little something special, and everyone loves him.
He is chestnut, with flaxen mane and tail. 15 H. 11 years old

I don't know your price range.....course, I don't have a price in mind for him, either, but to the right home.....

Kinnip, lucky and goody for you! Please keep us updated as you look for prospects. The 5 minutes from home sounds wonderful. And around here, $300 will give you the roughest of board, period! If you can find a place at all.
