Tell you what... you start with just one male and a couple of females, and within 2-3 months you'll be hatching your own babies. That's what happened with me and my buttons. Started with 7 males and 8 females (split up) born the end of April, and now I have 24 more babies growing in the brooder.

Needless to say, I will not be hatching any more Buttons this year, but will be selling the eggs, or using them as a protein/calcium source for all the birds.

Any more babies?!?! I am in so much trouble MissP! At least I found a good use for my rabbit hutch now! LOL! Lucky for my DH that I can't hatch anything else until next spring. I will most definitely be adding quail to my list though.

My two year old had a fit when I put his "chocolates" into the incubator. It was so cute. Now the other 5 kids check on the chocolates daily!

Stacey, you have to try these. In 8 weeks you could have a supply of your own eggs in 8 weeks and be eating quail all fall and winter!

Tori - all of the buttons are growing veins

6 have hatched. 5 more are pipped.

Of the 6 there is 1 golden.

I knew the Bobs were fertile, but it sure is nice to know that all the Buttons are fertile, too. I guess that concludes the fertility testing, eh?

Happy hatching, Angie!

I moved these to a warm brooder. They are fast LOL and cute. The Golden one was the first to hatch and seems a bit aggressive. Male? LOL
