I got a new LG and I HATE it!!!

Um.....so how bout them Hovabators!!

Ive got a 1588, and love it. Its been running since February, I don't think Ive turned it off once. Temp has been dead steady the entire time, and Im getting great hatches. Its not terribly expensive, either. I think its a good 'un.

Here is a fair to middlin bator for those that want good preformance, OCI 20. It can be found at onelye.com If you need a larger one they have the OTS 288, it holds 28800 eggs where the OCI 20 holds 196

ok ok change the subject but one more id like to know what she ws baseing her bashing on. There was not one thing on the post that was even a hint of out of sync.. to a 3rd grader..gads!
there is herbal hormone substitue on the market maybe you/she can ck it out at some health store.. sometimes those power surges also called hot flashes can make one jump too soon.
certainly i have done it.. most will eventually its called life. oh well.

Peace, guys! DDD probably shouldn't have bashed the1much, he sounds like a nice guy, but his posts are hard for me to read, too. So are many other people's. Deciphering misspellings, typos, wrong word usage, (like confusing to, too, and two, or there, their, and they're) and haphazard punctuation, actually gives me a headache. Maybe it does that to her, too.

The1much, I think if I were sitting across the table having a cup of coffee with you, we'd have a great conversation, and your typing wouldn't bother me at all. Because you can't hear spelling and punctuation errors. But I do skip over a lot of your posts, because they are hard to read and they hurt my head. Maybe just how my brain is wired, which isn't your fault. It's my problem, not yours. And DDD's problem, not yours. I'm sorry if this was rude, I just see where both sides are coming from on this. There are smart, funny, nice folks who don't type so well. There are smart, funny, nice people, who have trouble reading it. Peace, already.

So back OT, I have an LG, and it's not very well designed, I agree. I think the solution for those of us who don't have the bucks to lay out for an expensve bator, is maybe to build our own. There are some good instructions to be found, if you google "homemade incubators" or "build your own incubator". There was a good article about this in Countryside Magazine and Small Stock Journal awhile back. They have archived articles on their website, it may be there. The guy who wrote the article used a 12-volt battery to power his, so he didn't have to worry about power failures. He used an old picnic cooler for the body.

When I get tired enough of complaining about my LG, I'll break down and build one.

it would be proper GRAMMAR. if you're going to pick on someone's writing style, don't do it without proofreading your own. i am not saying this with a snarky tone, just thinking it is critical to a person, not critical to a to the topic.

i don't use capitals to start a sentence. it is a writing style. when communicating online rules are not the same as in our tangible life. lower case all denotes using a 'small voice'.

enough about that; i have enjoyed these comments and it is helping me not make a poor decision about a back up bator in future.

thanks you alls,,, but no worries

When I got my LG I happened to have an extra dimmer knob sitting around and it fits perfectly. makes it much ewasier to turn just a micromillimeter however I still hate my LG! I recently bought an older Brower tabletop at an estate auction and am hoping I can get it where I want it, if not I am going to sell both of them and there turners and buy a 1588. Was trying to find one local, didn't happen is there somewhere to find where local sales GQF?

Our sportsman completely paid for itself in less than 6 months from selling chicks it hatched, after that we took the money and bought spare parts should we ever need them, That was 3 years ago, all the spare parts are still on the shelf collecting dust and the sportsman is still making money. It was worth every penny it cost. and why we bought a 2nd one last year

Wait......is this thread about the frustration the LG bator gives you OR how somebody doesn't capitalize an "I"? I guess I am confused:p Anyway....I don't even own an incubator so I guess I can't discuss the pros' and cons' lmao

I got the Hova-bator 1602N and Automatic Egg Turner 1610. I pulled it out yesterday and it took probably about 5 hours to get the temperature right. I let it run for a while to make sure it was functioning properly. I was actually going to post about the egg turner. I had no idea how fast or slow they move and I couldn't tell if mine was actually turning or not. Finally gave up staring at it intently and walked away for an hour, and when I came back, saw they had shifted position. Dunno how well it works yet. I'll post info about all of that in my egg thread.
