Okay..you need to read the sticky for this section. If you cannot deal with.predators being killed do not open the threads but your posted comments to the op were uncalled for. If you want to sing campfire songs with the fox carrying off your duck ... go for it but do not attack others for not doing the same.

I owned a raccoon when I was young and stupid. The are not endangered, by any means. They can be eatten (OK I never have, but know people who do) and I'd probably try it if offered. My cute little Bandit turned into a hideous, mean demon over night. The cute little thing that once took food from my hand almost took my hand off. I cried to my mom and all she said was "I told you so!" Bandit went to a very small animal park. Mean little @@#%$%$#^

Then there was the one momma and 5 babies that lived in my mom's neighborhood in a small city next to Berkeley. I was in her laundry room and heard a deep growl and looked out the door to see here watching me while the babies were climbing all over the cars next door. I looked at her and told her "Look B****, I got enough kids of my own to be bothered by yours. That was fine, but an hour latter when I was leaving with my then 2 year old, she almost attacked him as he walked out the front door. Mom and kids were out there tearing up my mom's flowers.

I say kill it, eat it, wear it or whatever.

OH.....and those cute little things do kill dogs and puppies, so ...................oh yeah I was done huh?

Hope you BBQed them. Heck they are right tasty almost anyway. Laugh if you want, but even the Caifornia State Fair knows they are good eaten. Coon on a stick is a featured food there this year.

There's ways of working around holes. Pieces can be tanned and use. I did beadwork with one that had a hole in it. The pelt was stretched on a limb frame, beadingwork throught the big hole and it was the first thing I sold one year from my booth. BTW it wasn't from being shot. I got a few pelts back from someone learning to tan and I usually want a smooth skin, so yeah. I don't know how he did it, at least I forget, but I'm old and it's allowed. I got bacl about 7 pieces that were damaged, but he got pretty good as he went on. Mostly rabbit. He was going to just toss them, but called first and I was like "NOOOOOOOO!!! I can work with those!" LOL

Yeah but if nothing else. The tails! Ohhhhhhh

The skinned faces are great to use also.

Be careful handling coons. Many have some sort of worm that can infect humans and cause a lot of damage. This was the first site that popped up when I googled raccoon worms:
