I got hit hard last night. Lost quite a few to DOGS!

I'm very sorry

They have free ranged for months with no problems at all but unfortunately, all it takes is one time and you are just devistated.

So sorry to hear about your lose. I would be devastated. Was your attack during the day? I free-range during the day now, but I am almost always within hearing range of the chickens. Guess I'm a bit compulsive about that. At nightime the flock is locked up tight and I still worry about predators.

So sorry to hear of your loss Pumkinpup.

We've admired those beautiful birds so often.
We're all sharing your pain.

If my loss saved your flock or anyone elses I do feel better about it. Thank you for sharing this with me. It helped to lift my spirits more than anything else that anyone could have told me

Not that I do not greatly appreciate all of the kind words and support from the rest of my wonderful BYC family! I don't know what I would do without you all to share with in good times as well as bad.

I miss my babies but I am glad that someone else still has theirs as a result of my tragedy.

My birds free ranged every day and put themselves up at night. I would go out and close the doors after dark.
This particular time I was too late and never heard a single sound. I was home and the coops are not more than 75 feet from my back porch. I was amazed that this all took place right under my nose! This goes to prove, You Can't Be Too Careful!
