Got the call this morning from the post office, went and picked up my package from Metzers. Got a little African girl and a pair of Tufted Romans. The two girls are doing great. The little boy has a sore eye, just watching that for now.

He also has curled toes on his left foot. Going to try to splint with? something? not sure what adhesive would be best? Bandaids or masking tape? I called Metzers and the lady I spoke with Ashley I believe just said to use cotton balls. After all the good stuff I have read about them this leaves me feeling disappointed.

Well any advice on baby waterfowl splints especially on safe adhesives would be appreciated since this is a new area for me.

Thank you.

cotton balls, they'd probably end up trying to eat them.. that thread flock watcher has given is a good one.

Thank you, that article was a great help. I was massaging his little foot out straight and he fell asleep on me. Spoke with John Metzer, he offered to replace him if needed so I am happy with them again.

Your going to keep him aren't you? Hoping it will straighten out and can you get veterycin spray and spray the other ones eye it is such good stuff.

Well after he fell asleep in my hand of course I'm keeping Henry. I was planning on it anyways. He will just not be allowed to pass his genetics on to future offspring. It has sorta straightened out and he can walk flat just the outside bone curves inward more that is should. His eye cleared up in a matter of hours.

I like the Tufted Roman goslings so much I'm getting 4 more sent next week.

SillyCityGirl ,Have you tried giving the gosling niacin? Or some peas. Just take some frozen peas and put some in the microwave just take the chill off and give him some and see if this helps the foot straighten out more. Just giving some advise that may help. It helps with shaky legs and or goslings off balance. Might just help uncurl them toes more. All you can do is try it.

I didn't try niacin. They get Mazuri waterfowl starter and now they are outside devouring weeds too. The broody hens get lots of pea treats I will try this with the goslings. He seems to be really doing quite well and using his foot well. It is just the outer toe bone is still a little deformed and curves inward a bit more than it should, barely noticeable anymore. I'm sure he will be able to live a normal healthy life with it but I still won't use him for breeding. His head is a bit on the narrow side and just his overall build doesn't seem as stocky as the female. Now she is looking good.
