I Gotta ask How did you ladies and gents decide on your chickens names

Lets see:
Rooster - Carlos (after Carlos Mencia on Comedy Central, my husband said his crow sounded like the Dee, Da, Dee skit)

Our first RIR hen - HENrietta

Our Blue Slate Tom - Thumper (he is gray and I didn't know turkeys made a thumping noise when they are displaying)

My husband named his two girls Amy & Shelly, I don't know why

His son is Hank (short for Thanksgiving, which is what we plan for him this year

My 3 yr old has named one of the Buff Chantecler chicks "Ladder". (Only one other chick, the runt 'Peep', even HAS a name).

I would dearly love to know why, but am sure I never will

Wow, y'all are creative. I don't have kids and mostly can't tell one chicken from the other of the same breed...needless to say many of them don't have names. The ones that do are named on appearance & personality.
SLW roo = Sir Feisty Roo
BR (lighter than the others so I can tell her apart) = Roxie
Welsummers (can't tell em apart, so who know's which is which) = Welsie & Foggy (her cluck sounds like a foghorn)
2 of the speckled sussex that are the most curious = Speck 1 & Speck 2 (but honestly I can only tell them apart from the other 2 when they are behaviorally gregarious)
Black Australorps were named as chicks b/c they were so friendly, I could tell them apart then, now I don't have any idea who is who so the names have pretty much fallen by the wayside) = they were Raven, Kiri & Majolica
SLW hens = Sami (looks like sam the eagle from the muppets) & Betty Lou
There's still at least half a dozen without names. I don't think they care one way or the other.

Vivian- I saw a picture of a Black Cochin and that name sprang to my mind. So Viv it is!

I wanted "classic" names for the girls. So Mae and Emma for two of the Buff Orps. And my husband insisted on Daisy for the other Buff Orp.
We had a house rooster last winter that my daughter named Fred.. because he didnt look like "Bob" the rooster from her book.

He lives elsewhere now. Husband thought house ROOSTER was a bit much.

I love reading everyone's chicken names!

We just have 2 right now...a Silver Sebright chick (not sure of sex) named Roger Trace Adkins. My 7 yo named it after one of his favorite singers and some egg that was the class pet on Spongebob.

Then my mystery pullet I was calling Hildegaard, Hildy for short, but DH and the kids changed it to Petunia.

I used to have a little bantam male named Mr. Peabody, and a black Austrolop named Lucky, since he was lucky to make it through the night.

I also had an African goose named Bojangles.

These names are great! Kids are so creative. I love chicken nugget! Reminds me of my potbelly pig I had when I was little that I named Porkchop!
