I hate coons, UPDATE #52 got'em!

Ok here ya all go, sorry it took so long, before the attack I had the hardware cloth only about half of the height it is now which is how they were able to reach over, and i did not have the hot wire of course. I plan to run another line at the top but for now I think this will keep them at bay, at the moment there is over 5,500 volts running through it with 2 lines one at about 6" and the other 20" off the ground. Just ask PC how good it feels

I built the ducks a pool (the duckuzzi) but since they have that fresh water stream running through they dont really need it.

I still have to do that one fence side but they have to climb over one or more fences to get in from that side and not that I dont think they can or wont I just need to get some srpay paint so that I dont have bright yellow things on that side, in the meantime I put hardware cloth even higher on that side. you can see it behind the duck nest

chicken runs have all been done as well. Oh and coop is done too!!!!! except a few finer details

ETA I got everything I needed for the electric fence at TSC I am olnly turning it on at night ofcourse and will have lots of warning signs as well.

I lost three Silkies last week to a coon. The coon must die!!!

Today, I went to Tractor Supply Co. and purchased an electric fencing system. I put up four stands outside my 6 feet high fence; I have the coop covered with 1/4 hardware cloth; I have set three traps in the woods behind the coop (two live traps and one bait trap). Touching the fence will make me 'cry uncle' with only one foot grounded (I have rubber soled shoes- I took one shoe off to check the current). I cannot imagine how it would have jolted me with both feet grounded?

I hope the coon will be jolted into coon Hades (to burn forever) . . . if the traps don't do the trick.

That is an incredible enclosure. You have really worked hard, and it shows. Glad your remaining ducks are healing up well. I love happy endings!

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry you lost some chickens (what are runners?)?


I had no idea that raccoons could or would eat chickens....I thought they just went after the eggs. I have a ton of coons on our property....and had the chance to shoot one a month ago, but when I shined the light on his face and saw that cute mask, I couldn't do it. I know I know......but at the time I didn't know they would eat my girls. Next time.

Anyway, sorry you are going through this.
